Roster Feedback Thread

Postby Andrew on Thu Nov 06, 2014 8:43 pm

Since Fernando is keeping tabs on the Forum, I thought I'd create another sticky thread this year for any roster feedback. Ratings, accessory updates, any other issues...if it's constructive feedback about the rosters, feel free to post it here!

Combed through the latest update. It appears that only one player is missing (Kalin Lucas of the Grizzlies), and given the date he was signed, I'm guessing he missed the cut-off for the release of the roster. Also noticed a few jersey numbers that are incorrect. The players and their correct jersey numbers are as follows:

Tyler Zeller (Celtics) - #44
Cartier Martin (Pistons) - #35
Kent Bazemore (Hawks) - #24
Thabo Sefolosha (Hawks) - #25
J.J. Barea (Mavericks) - #5
Jordan Hamilton (Jazz) - #25
Joe Ingles (Jazz) - #2
Brandon Rush (Warriors) - #4
Hedo Turkoglu (Clippers) - #15

Also, on the accessories front, Chris Paul is no longer wearing the undershirt.

Chris Douglas Roberts no tattoos when he is covered and hair is completly wrong -clippers
Birdman has no Mohawk -heat
Avery Bradley is off -celtics
Garret temple looks bad -wizards
Otter porter has goggles -wizards
martell Webster hair -wizards
Paul peirce wears blue headband and sleeve not black -wizards
Norris cole looks off-heat
I've always loved live should patch in a edit roster with ability to do hair would be nice and the free throws for all player are generic not signature with these updates 2k is beat

We're moving into Wishlist territory with those last couple of items. This is just for roster corrections/updates/feedback; that other stuff is certainly welcome to be discussed in a new thread, though. (Y)

CDR could at least use some goggles.
I think I saw Larry Sanders wearing goggles too the other day.
I think Rondo's rocking the headband again.

For some reason, Al Murdoch is announcing the wrong jersey numbers in-game for some players. bug?

Are you able to implement a change like this?:

At least the physique maybe? And could the rest like the warmer color, contrast, vibrancy and jersey tweaks perhaps be passed along to the art team please?

^ You know, I appreciate the time the team took in taking pictures of the actual jerseys, but the numbers are just way off on a lot of the jerseys. and I noticed that on the Nets jerseys, the names on the back don't even have the right font. :?
But this is a ROSTER feedback thread, not art feedback.

In Ultimate Team, I have the Knicks home jersey and a lot of my guys have orange shoes and accessories which doesn't look right. but that could be just me

Offhand:

Elfrid Payton ORL (hair) I live in ORL and I'm shocked by this since you guys are in Maitland seems like the Magic players would be easy and accessible
Aaron Gordon ORL (hair is faded on sides of 'frohawk)
Terrence Ross TOR (arm and leg sleeves)
Anthony Davis NOP (small afro)
Joel Embiid PHI (his real face)
James Harden HOU (hair is faded on sides of 'frohawk)
Kobe Bryant LAL (cheeks just slightly too puffy makes him look kinda odd)
Joe Johnson BK (face)
Larry Sanders MIL (old school scuba diving looking goggles)
Marcin Gortat WAS (mohawk and beard)
Nikola Pekovic MIN (his beard/ hair could be much better)

Ideas (Will start another thread but thought I'd share it here so you'd see it):
Dwight Howard: Have him smile sometimes when he scores, dunks... that's his emotion
Blake Griffin: Have him do his "stare down" when he dunks etc AND have him stick his mouthpiece out at times (EA did this w/ Gerald Wallace in NBA Jam On Fire Edition)...that's his emotion
Rajon Rondo: Mouthpiece as well (see above description)

Just a few, will make an Idea thread. I really appreciate you guys putting in the effort and making updates as quickly as you have and thanks for correcting the highlight/ Half-Time "no show" glitch!

Thanks for the feedback! Hair and player appearances are art assets. I can't give guys haircuts and they would require a different type of update. I need to investigate on Elfrid's hair because it is pretty awesome.

I love the celebration ideas. I'll pass those along!

I''ve seen that issue with the Knicks pop up at random. Luckily, it's nothing game breaking but, yea, it looks weird and I'm sure it's not just you.

We're well aware about CP3 undershirt/compression shirt/etc. It's not easy easy to remove like other accessories but, I think we're planning on getting it on an update.

Those jersey numbers concern me though. I'll double check the data on our side.

Thanks everyone for your patience!

Indeed, much appreciated. That's interesting about the undershirt issue, but hopefully it can be a regular accessory in NBA Live 16, if CAP does indeed return. ;)

Yes, it was very noticeable in Ultimate Team with my Bronze players that are on a new team (in real life) this year. Al Murdoch is calling them by their number from last year. Ronnie Price gets called #10 (he's #9), Trevor Booker is called #35 (He's #33), CDR is called #55 (he's #14)

and yea the collars on all the jerseys are pretty wrong, they seem to be too wide... I personally don't mind the off font and numbers, but the collar is very noticeable even when playing, especially when shooting free throws or replays.

Guys, I really wish we could just edit these players ourselves! We cannot even create a player for dynasty mode anymore. Seriously! To be honest, I wouldn't have purchased the game if I would have known that. Thats what made this game fun for me...playing dynasty mode with a buddy and creating our own players with our names and accessories. So disappointed this year.

Fernando, if it helps, it is definitely only in ultimate team. Today I had James Ennis called #11 along with #11 on the stat overlay at the ft line. And Ronnie Price was called #10 in a tip-off game I played.

Thank you so much Fernando, appreciate you lending an ear to our voice and it actually being heard and hope someday the ideas could be implemented into the game via update or next iteration of the game.

Seeing the new update right now as I type this with Terrence Ross wearing his arm sleeves etc so thx! Now to check on some of the others.

Can we please get Jason Richardson out of the Spurs...

This is why only allowing automatic 'Live' updates and not manual one's is damn frustrating.

I go to play a Kawhi challenge and J Rich is starting at PF for the team.

Working on a fix for this. Should have it soon.

Which challenge are you seeing this in specifically?

And sorry for sounding cliche, but have you reset since the last download?

Pretty sure it was 3 straight for the Spurs. But the most recent one I am sure of was the score 8pts in the 4th with Leonard.

I don't get how Synergy can put random players on the wrong team (and out of position). This happened in 14 as well.

Fernando, can you update us on why a two minute manual job that we can all do in games with manual roster options has yet to be applied officially? (Rondo trade).

Also, why are EA not releasing full patch notes (especially in the console UI)? I see people reporting new animations, new transition animations, EA asking players on Twitter what changes they are seeing, but why would you not release full patch notes in this day and age? You are making it hard to recommend your game to others.

Not sure if we have one in the works.

Not sure what your first question was. Could you rephrase it?

They'll be releasing the notes soon. Just gotta wait on one more thing on our end.

I meant that in games that allow manual roster changes, it takes us players all of two minutes to make a trade.

Why has it been days since the real life Rondo trade and we've yet to see this take place in our game? From what I've read, Synergy doesn't apply trades and that job is for someone at EA Sports. If you are going to make promises in the marketing of your game (two years in a row) about 'live' updates, you can't be so late with trades. Especially since you've crippled the game by not allowing us to make changes to the roster ourselves.

I really didn't appreciate the official response after the concerns recently either. It was all about having an authentic roster that mirrors what is taking place in real life... yet the game allows Ultimate Team, it allows Spurs VS Spurs, same player VS same player etc, so the reasoning just sounded like a poor excuse for not having what is really a must have feature. The first ever NBA Live game back in 1995 allowed trades for goodness sake.

Thanks for rephrasing the question!

The Synergy system we have in place is pretty complex. We've got it to the point where it can mirror real life lineups. It's also supposed to work when players switch teams. Obviously, it didn't. We're investigating on why that is and we're fixing it to avoid situations like this in the future. It should be fixed now, though.

As far as the roster stuff, I can't really speak to why those decisions were made as they occurred before I joined the team.

I don't know if this is the response you were looking for but, I hope I was at least able to help.

Appreciate the insight, Fernando.

Phreak50, we did ask Sean about roster editing and customisation features when we had him on the Podcast. Essentially it boils down to some of the code/systems they have in place not being adequate, and with so much ground to make up, other aspects of the game (notably gameplay) were prioritised. Customisation features and depth modes therefore weren't the focus this year, but happily, they are on the road map for NBA Live 16. It's a shame as I'd love to have roster editing functionality and I'm keen to see Dynasty get deeper, but Sean did give us an honest and straightforward answer about that.

Offhand the only thing I can think of that stands out now is:

Accessories (all wear goggles):
MIL- Larry Sanders (Same as Amar'e Stoudemire's goggles)
Image
WAS- Otto Porter (Ray Ban type glasses/goggles)
Image
LAC -Chris Douglas-Roberts (Oakley type goggles like Hinrich)
Image

Hair Style:
ORL- Evan Fournier (Small pony tail on top-type hairstyle) (have that guy come in to the studio in Maitland!)
Image
LAC- Chris Douglas-Roberts (Hi-top dread hairstyle)
Image
POR- Chris Kaman (Beard)
Image

Great to see you guys finally got Elfrid in there to get his hair correct, keep up the great work and once again thanks, we appreciate you listening to us!

Rosters in Head 2 Head seem pretty messed up. Kyrie is missing from the Cavs, Durant from the Thunder and a few more I have noticed.

I am not sure if I am the only one that feels like this but I would prefer if the devs quit messing with rosters outside of trades that happen.

Synergy sets the rosters based on the lineups from the last game that the team last played.
