College Hoops 2015

Postby walkerg24 on Tue Aug 19, 2014 1:19 pm

I've been contacted about helping to produce a college hoops mod for the upcoming 2014-15 season. I have completed some courts and uniforms. I will post work I've done and what I have from Big Ort. Please contact me if you have work completed and want to contribute to this project. If more people want to get involved, then more likely this project becomes a reality. It's best that people work together to prevent produce duplicates of the same courts, uniforms, and other aspects necessary to complete this mod.

Actually I was doing a March Madness 2k15 mod using bigh0rt s mod from last year and updating players/rotations and cyber faces. There are 41 teams in this mod, and I have 8 left. Are you talking about adding more teams? Or just updating what's been done with new jerseys and courts. I'm releasing the roster early November once each of the teams has played so I can get an idea of rotations etc. Everything should be pretty much done in a couple weeks, just waiting for rotations, but the rosters should be good as far as players and ratings. What exactly are you adding? I'm all in for pitching in with the roster, however if teams are added, we need to make sure that the same level of detail for cyber faces and the same ratings scheme is followed so it flows well.

The mod from bigh0rt and Co last year was phenomenal, and we should build on that, just adding little things like details, more CFs, and adding extra teams and updating courts and jerseys

I'm talking about adding more teams. I have some courts and uniforms that make it about 50 teams. In the process of posting pics of what I've done!

But what's the point of making all of the art if it is very likely 2K15 will have different formats? Have you not heard it was NG graphics? Or is this for 2K14?

I'm aware that 2k15 is Next Gen. The way that I went about doing my courts and uniforms, I should be able to transition without much trouble. I prepared myself for a change in format. The uncertainties that I do have about 2k15's new format is the reason for the slow down in development.

It's for 2k14.....I imagine it will be a while until mod tools are available for "next gen"

Wow that's alot of teams. Are you good with rosters? I may be able to help with some aspects, but things like assigning players to teams and creating slots for players I haven't done. Maybe someone can create the roster for these new teams.

I already have names of players in my file, including incoming freshman. Just vitals, skills, tendencies, and the works need to be updated. That can happen as the season progresses, especially for players that I'm not familiar with. I was thinking the same about the NG aspect of NBA 2K15. We don't know how soon RED MC for 2k15 will be released. To have the foundation for a college game for this coming season may have to be on NBA 2K14.

I've channeled my energies to uniforms and courts. My idea is to have uniforms and courts done, so I can just focus on player development. I would post pictures, but the pictures I have will not download as needed. I have a Facebook page dedicated to the work that I've done!

These should definitely be an add on to the update I'm doing on the mod from last year. Honestly it's really hard to find info on lesser known teams until they play games, and even then you have to really watch a few of their games. I just did Tennessee ' s roster and it was a nightmare, they have like 7 new players , all but one 2 star recruits and 2 star JUCO guys....it ain't easy finding info other than height and weight on those guys. I'm good with just doing the 41 teams in the MM2K14 mod primarily because I am very meticulous and this project is a time eater, about 2 hours a team editing names, height/ weight, and then the ratings and tendencies........that's a killer. I'm Sure someone here will be willing to edit the ratings etc. You are putting in alot of good work and I'm sure someone here will be happy to edit rosters. It's just important to maintain the level of quality we had in the first mod. I know bigh0rt put in a ton of time as well as others. I've got about 80 hours in so far and have 6 teams left, and still have to do birth dates for the 500+ players and tweaks. Talk to bigh0rt about what he wants to add, he can help garner support.

ESPN Insiders has scouting reports on most of the college players. Having a general idea of how a player looks to play helps with generating a player's tendencies. I have templates of play styles for a pass first point guard, scoring point guard, back-to-basket centers, etc...I make alterations accordingly. All SEC, ACC, and AAC uniforms and courts I have. I may look to complete PAC-12 and Conference USA before the season starts. I have some PAC-12 teams completed.

I'm certainly not going to tell anybody what they can or cannot do, or what they ought to do (just getting that out of the way). However, my suggestion would definitely be to build off of the work that droc81yo, has done, walkerg24. I think that his roster database should absolutely continue to be the one that is used (but again, if you feel you want to create your own, walker24, don't let anyone stop you, and God bless). I also think that droc should probably be able to use your files and maybe even some of your roster to help build the March Madness 2K15 mod (on 2K14). I would be happy to help add teams that there are appropriate files for, which it sounds like there are. We are certainly stronger as a together unit than we are piecewise, working individually -- I think last year is a testament to that. I'd even suggest walker, that you go through the MM2K14 mod, and if you feel there's anything you can improve upon (court, uniform, whatever), go ahead and do so. We can certainly not only expand but also make things better, and update things (such as uniforms, which teams seem to change all the damn time).

No reason to not collaborate here; but again, I would suggest using what droc has been doing as 'the' roster/database, as it is built off of what we did last year, has a ton of work already put into it, and should be easy enough to expand upon if and when the time comes.

Very exciting to have all this NCAA talk this early. (Y) (Y)

Hey Big Ort,

If droc81yo has roster database that works then I can work with that. Most of my time has been spent on courts and jerseys (which they do change too often). I guess you can say that we're in the preliminary stages of this project. I'm going to post what I've worked on and then go from there. You're right about doing this project collaboratively. I'm all for that!

I'm definitely game for the Pac-12 teams! I should get ESPN insider , never thought of that, been trying to use "free" information. Sounds like you're doing a lot. The more we can get to collaborate the better it will be. Just a shame we can only use 30 teams in an association mode. If you want to I can send you what I have when it is completed, other than maybe some cyber faces and such or doing a few more teams later , I'm going to be tapped out by the time this update to MM 2k14 is done. (Might have to actually spend some time with the wife and kids  ).

Any ideas for a title screen? I like the look of last years with just a single player (looks cleaner). I'll just update the title screen to reflect 2k15. I was thinking of using Andrew Harrison since he basically won 3 tournament games with his clutch shooting, any ideas?

I was thinking of Shabazz Napier, considering Connecticut won the title. However, maybe we can find a picture with Andrew Harrison and Shabazz Napier matched-up and use that as part of the title page. As for the ESPN Insider, I think you will find it beneficial. You have to pay for it though, but it's cheap. You get a subscription of ESPN magazine also if you sign up. We should develop a plan of action to combine our work and move from there.

Unfortunately the name escapes me at the moment (its late and I'm exhausted), but the member who made the MM2K14 screen is, IMO, the king of them. I'd avoid Napier since he's no longer an NCAa player, but really that's such a minor detail it will all work out later.

Can you post some screens of the uniforms you've made? Real interested to see them.
