I just realized there wasn't a thread on NLSC for this upcoming release. Most of the progress has been getting posted on YouTube and Facebook. If you haven't been following, this has been a long time in the making. The idea was to "remaster" the original NBA 2K Dreamcast years, thats why the years 1998-2002 were chosen. Each season will have an individual roster, updated not just with accurate lineups but season by season changes in players accessories, ratings, tendencies, etc.
It spans several seasons, from 1998-2002. So you'll get 4 rosters that are all compatible with one new folder.
Each rosters reflects the Opening Night Rosters from each season. There will be Alternate Versions of rosters, so people can play out What If Scenarios
For example, there is a Lockout shortened schedule 98-99, and then there is an Alternate History version, where 98-99 gets a full schedule, and Michael Jordan DOESNT retire
Outside of rosters, everything has been changed to reflect the era, arena sounds, dornas, menus, soundtracks, broadcast themes, coaches, portraits, sneakers. No corners were cut I can say that much.
So you can kind of think of this like a spiritual successor to the great NBA 90's Mod. Where that mod leaves off, this mod picks up (two totally different roster bases though) Right now its in the final testing phases (which is actually a very important phase), myself and the beta team are trying to spot any errors, and rigorously testing the gameplay, trying to find ways to freeze or crash the game, etc. I am looking to release as soon as its where I want it to be.
Thats all I can think of for now. If there are any questions I will answer them. I will try to keep updating on here but definitely follow the Facebook Page if you want the soonest updates, because I am just on there posting more.
