When I think of best teams of all time (that include some of the best players as well), I cant exclude the 70-71 Bucks with Big O and Lew, or the 70-71 Lakers (or a primed Wilt with Philly), or the 76-77 76ers team with Serving/McGinnis/Free/Dawkins, and I obviously can't exclude Bill Russell. Too much history that I cannot leave out. Rick Barry/Nate Thurmond Combo, the classic Knicks teams as well. I could go on and on.

I agree but the problem i have with those seasons is that there are not enough competitive teams so i will never play more than an exhibition game.

The nineties had seasons with so many great teams and players that it was always hard to make a decision before starting a season.

In 2006 Season - Nets Vince Carter is replaced with your name skoadam
In 2007 Season - Minnesota, there is an Anthony Skoadam

While I agree that the 90's were the best season and that URB covers the most important parts of the NBA if you think about cable ratings (increased for Magic VS Bird in the 80's and went through the roof when MJ exploded in the league), previous rosters like the 70's could've been possible, but even Hawk himself admitted that there just wasn't enough stats and information for the players (heck, even Basketball Reference admits that most stats weren't even recorded/covered that early in the league), so that would leave Slimm to blindly guess ratings for the players to get even vaguely accurate stats. I'm sure that skoadam has nothing against older rosters, it's just that they'd be too difficult to create with so little information and footage available to the public that isn't missing, and think about the courts without the 3 point lines, you'd have to either make the courts using the older painted quality method or use the new method, but draw the ENTIRE 3 point line the same texture as the wood, but then comes the players shooting them, because either new sliders would have to be made, or EVERY player have their 3 point rating dropped to 25.

These are the exact reasons I never intended to do anything much earlier than 84-85.

I have a lot of respect for 70s/80s All stars, Julius, Kareem, Oscar etc but guys really, please watch real game from both decades, it was so extremely boring. 10 guys inside the paint, few interesting teams, a lot of current phillys. Ofc i understand older users, if any of you were born in 70s, you will prefer 70s and 80s for sure but most guys here were born later, a lot of them in 80s, same with 90s, there is a lot of teenagers who prefer only current.

If someone else were able to do them, that could be possible. Theres just as much info available for 83, as there is 84, and so on. But rosters werent always made solely using numbers and basketball reference. The best rosters IMO were made when the person making them knew the players. RayHoops, before he went goofy, was an example of this. Many others over the years. It would seem it would be a good idea to go to some other knowledgable members of the community who are familiar with that period of the NBA. But I believe skoadam relies entirely on slimm to do the roster work, so if slimm cant do it, it cant be done, in other words.

True, but even Ray's 90's Mod was just a modification of the UBR's rosters, he did change CF's and dornas as well as fix some skintone clashing, however, he didn't touch up on the shot formation too much in the rosters, so there were inconsistent shooting forms for many players, much like the UBR's older version, the entire 1992 and 1995 rosters had incorrect colleges, Manute Bol and Gheorghe Muresean were still listed as 7'6 instead of being fixed to 7'7 for every roster (sko you gotta look at this for your rosters, I know it's just an inch, but these are the two tallest NBA players in history we talkin about). URB has done a great job at keeping the shooting forms as consistent as possible through the years, improved jerseys from bighort, accurate ratings from slimm, and diversifying these roster versions from the UBR's.

skoadam already answered that question. it's simply too much work for one (or two) persons.

you are right, too. modders miss a lot of information of basketball from the 50's, 60's, 70's.
I tell you that isn't a matter of the age of people that create roster, it's a lack of information generally and a lack of time.
for example it took me days investigating retro courts of the 50's and 60's on youtube. in the end I got some courts. not all, but I was glad to get some of them.
but think twice... it took me days of investigation!

I tell you it's easy to download and play a retro roster. and yes, it's also easy to say: "hey boys, I miss cyberfaces, I miss authentic arenas, I want correct jerseys etc. etc. etc. etc......"

that work does not need someone else to do it, it needs more people that are willing to do work.

And that's awesome, I love what it covers. The attention to detail is insane. I am going to make an attempt (With a few others) to see if can really get the UBR in tip top shape. You know how they said that Larry and Magic made eachother better? Because they were the best, both of their games wouldn't have been as good without the other being in the league. That's kind of the way I look at the UBR and URB, they just make eachother better.

Thanks Sko and slimm for always improving on this mod and for always listening to us when you really are not required to but you're doing so as you want to improve on what you've created and that's dedication.

Just my two cents between UBR and URB. I like the the idea of playing historical NBA pre-80s, seeing how the courts look back then, the jerseys, the players, and so on. From time to time I'd play a game in UBR.

However, at the end of the day I'm really a 90s person because I enjoy the skill level, the cut throat competitiveness of the this era. Yes, I also enjoy the 80s Bird vs. Magic, Kareem, Dominique, and the others.

Currently, this era 2010s is exciting with lots of players and teams you don't know who will really win never mind Golden State or San Antonio, any given day any team will win it is just a matter of consistency (maybe a coaching thing or discipline) that's how good the players and teams have become.

With everything said, at the end, I'll still end up playing URB 9 times out of 10 because of the attention to detail from courts, uniform, shot form, and the cyberfaces (the best so far in my book). I really think the experience is way better with 95% accuracy to details.

Again, this is just my two cents. I'd really like to thank everyone in addition to Sko and Slimm, you have pat the head, monski, larry, and the rest. For all you've done to the authenticity of the game this is really best basketball sim to date and probably for many more years to come. No console will ever match it. Peace brothers! ...now let us still try to do more of it....more! more! more!

Does this mod work beside UBR? Sorry if this has been answered before. I used to help out HAWK with contracts and fixing rosters and stuff, and this mod seems pretty great and I want to check it out, but I really don't want to uninstall UBR right now.

I just use the Generic Mod Enabler program inside my Saves folder.
So instead of swapping out mods, it swaps out my saves.
I have over 100 save files easily w/ all of my rosters, almost every UBR and URB roster, associations, playoff files, and replays.

***BUT*** if you want to save changes to a file using this method you have to take the save file out of the "Mods" folder and put it directly into the saves folder, save changes, and then you can put it back in your "mods" folder if needed.

Or you could just add subfolders to the Saves folder

Look at his gamelogs. This is who he is. He'll have 10-15 crap games then have 5-10 games where he's scoring 15-25 PPG. He doesn't need an upgrade, he's just really inconsistent and is on a hot streak.

Oh good lord. This reminds me of everything I hated in the UBR thread when they were doing weekly updates for current rosters. You can't raise or lower ratings and abilities every 15 games or so, DESPITE what Madden and NBA 2K Insider has lead you to believe. You have to allow room for fluctuation. The sample size is too small man

i didn't check specific rating because i'm not expert for slimm's formula.

i only know when i play with the suns, how things look on the court in my specific case. i think he should get 3pt boost (i rarely able to hit 3pt shot with him, maybe it's just bad strike) and maybe minutes per game boost (i play 2min quarter, maybe that's the reason i don't get him enough on the court, just fyi). he is an excellent shooter. he recently broke record held by chuck person in 1994-1995 season for most 3pt shots made off the bench.

speaking of suns, devin booker is having breakout rookie year too.

of course, if both you and slimm think nothing should be changed, then ok, you know that i have full trust in your assesments
