"Can I Run it" Thread

Postby Culture Games on Wed Sep 16, 2015 12:22 pm

Can anyone give me an idea of how NBA 2k14 (MAX SETTINGS) will run on this laptop? (specs included)

I am looking for zero slowdown and max performance. Will this do it?

Note that this is not a gaming laptop and 4K screen on 15 inch display is basically just marketing catch reducing performance.

If you're after high performance laptop, there are better options on the market. And for that price you could have gaming beast desktop rig of course.

Interesting I didnt know that. 4k screen reduces performance? You seem like you really know about computers, would you please be able to show me one on this website that would be better? My price range is
$1,000 to $2,000

also im not sure if this matters, but i only play by plugging hdmi into the computer and connecting to my tv. I dont play on the computer monitor

4K basically means that you have to render 4 times bigger bicture than in FullHD. For regular work it's not a big deal, but for gaming it is.

Now if you plug it into the TV it depends on TV's resolution. I'm gonna take a guess that it's fullHD (1920*1080) regular TV which makes it easier for the GPU.

From their selection under $2000, this AlienWare looks best: http://www.costco.com/Alienware-17-Touc ... 18295.html

One of the best CPUs in class, more than enough memory, has SSD for OS and regular HDD for data and very powerful video card (for laptop). It is 17", don't know if that matters to you. There are also two 13" alienwares, both would do very well too.

These laptops should run even 2K15/16 without any issues, so 2K14 is a slam dunk. Of course they'd very well suited for work or multimedia.
