NBA 2K14 Release Date Revealed, Platforms TBA

Seems like a good topic to open the NBA 2K14 section with, seeing as though news is probably not too far away at this point.

This fiscal report from Take-Two mentions upcoming titles for 2013, revealing NBA 2K14's release date as October 1st, 2013; in line with the usual timeframe. The platforms are currently TBA, which probably points to a next gen release and hopefully also means a continuation of PC releases.

I was ub3r disappointed when they stopped making NFL for PC .. I sure hope they'll continue this epic series on all platforms.
Tbh I'm pretty sure they will , considering the difference of PC activity/community between 2k12 and 2k13

Based on the fiscal report, no platforms have been confirmed, though 360 and PS3 are pretty much a given and it seems likely there'll be a next gen release when those consoles are launched. That said, I'm going to assume that there'll be a PC release until we hear otherwise, though as I've said before in another thread I expect it will continue to be a low priority as far as support is concerned.

It's probably "TBA" because the next Xbox is not technically announced yet. So you see a lot of people saying things like "PC, PS4 and possibly other platforms" since Microsoft's NDA apparently requires denial of its existence. (And they might be undecided on doing another Wii U version.)

Sure hope you're talking about Madden. Which is from EA, not 2K. I don't want to comprehend the possibility of SUPERIOR alternate realities only DYSTOPIAN ones.

I believe there will be a PC release like announced in a few sites.

However, my concern is whether they'll port over the Xbox One and PS4 version to the PC, if there is an NBA 2K14 release for Xbox One and PS4. Since this year EA confirm that FIFA 14 Ignite Engine won't be ported over to the PC version of FIFA 14. That means it will only get a 360 port.

I am concerned that the same thing may happen with NBA 2K14, where the PC version will only get a 360 port. It's still not a disaster, better a 360 port than nothing.

Well, based on DC -> PS2/Xbox and PS2/Xbox -> 360 transitions the differences among versions in the first year were pretty negligible. We already can do much higher resolutions on PC than on the current gen.

I'd imagine most of the differences between PS4/XBONE and PS3/360 versions will be higher resolution textures and maybe slightly better cloth physics. Though who knows maybe VC has been working on a secret completely brand new next gen engine from scratch over the last couple years that they'll roll out instead of building off their legacy code. lol

The good news in any case is with the PS4/XBONE designs it should hopefully be easier to release better PC ports.

I'm guessing that will be the case, which as you said is better than nothing and should be satisfactory at the very least. I imagine we'll miss out on a feature here or there but the core experience will probably be more or less the same. As benji noted, unless they've got some new tech (physics and the like) ready to go, we'll probably only miss out on the graphics of the next gen version. That's fine by me, 2K13's graphics are acceptable at the very worst and the modding community does a fine job of enhancing the game anyway.
