NEXT-GEN Like Photomod

I wish EVERYONE would stop using the words next gen.

I like the PC version, even moreso with these mods but the PS4 version has twice as many polygons, atmospheric lighting, better cloth physics, hair/fur physics, the list goes on.

Come on man! Isn't that obvious? Everyone knows that. You can't blame EVERYONE for always talking about NEXT-GEN because that's a trend nowadays. Of course we can't achieve the same exact atmospheric lighting, cloth physics, hair/fur physics, and the list goes on since next gen consoles use a better and far more dynamic game engine. I believe there's nothing wrong trying to imitate the next gen feel since right now, that's the only way for the NBA 2K PC community. And besides there's nothing wrong in trying, right? Atleast, we put some decent effort.

Of course there is nothing wrong with trying. That's what we are here for, to make a good game look a hell of a lot better.

What I don't like (and I guess I shouldn't have been so harsh in a screenshot thread) is all these previews and releases trying to get hits by making their title 'Next Gen blahblahblah'.

I think it was Cam who said it in another thread, that the PS4 version doesn't look like real life and I agree. It just looks different.

Being a gamer forever and a PC game tweaker for a long time, I can say that lighting can make all the difference and I think that's where PC 2K14 is going to hit a brick wall. I mean, by the sounds of it, we can have higher resolution textures but without dynamic lighting we suffer.

I was playing around with some AO/Self Shadowing tonight. It definitely helps and is actually visible during gameplay camera too which is nice. In the end, we just tweak to our own preference. I just didn't like the whole NextGen thing everyone seems to be labelling things.

Phreak50, nice screenshots you got there bro. I always envy nvidia graphics card for the SSAO feature because it makes the picture quality cooler IMO. I have an AMD graphics card and been using RadeonPro for SSAO but unfortunately it's not working on NBA 2K. I was planning on switching to NVIDIA when the GTX 700 series came out but realized it wouldn't be practical to do so since my Radeon 7970 Crossfire can still cope up with the newer games nowadays. I really hope RadeonPro could atleast add some SSAO to NBA 2K like NVIDIA Inspector does.

Sweet Lebron screenshot you have there pre.. Are you using SJ1414's latest global also? If so, the blend in color somehow relatively matches with the skin tone and it looks gorgeous. Just the right amount of saturation and contrast to make the skin tone look real plus the hazy crowd effect that adds a somewhat foggy arena atmosphere. Hope you can share that config. I would love to try it kabayan. Also, sana ok lng kau jan sa pinas kc I heard from CNN earlier meron bagyong Yolanda.

@delan7dust I used SJ's Stadium Feel mod from nba 2k13 and Jao's Vibrant SweetFX also some SSAO from nvidia inspector. Thanks for the concern. We're okay here not much raining, just strong winds and drizzle.
