Really appreciated the work that you put in. At the same time, I don't quite understand the issue here. Presumably, you posted your roster here because you thought people would enjoy using it. You were doing a service for the 2k13 community. If it happens to show up on other sites, that just means more people will use it. If there were some people who were stupid enough to grab the roster from a site that was making ad money from them, that's their problem.

I think there has to be a certain expectation that when you post your work to a free-registration site on the internet, and it's good work, it will make it's way all over the internet in time.

Sorry for all this guys. People that steal are why we can't have nice things and why the modding community has really plummeted from 2K12 to 2K13. I really hope we can create a private network or something to allow all these great modders to continue to release their work unimpeded by idiots stealing our $

This is a reasonable viewpoint. I expected other sites to want this, but I didn't expect the slimy way they went about it. The way I explained it to somebody in a PM earlier is this:

I do this work for free because I want you guys to enjoy this game as much as I do. I'll use NBA2K.org as my example. I found out about this site yesterday, and was appalled at the length that the moderators of that site went to to steal my mod. There have been over 200 comments since yesterday, WAY MORE than anything else that's been on that site for months. I would venture to say that this lead to increased activity on their pages, and coincidentally led to more ad revenue (since it's tied to page clicks). Because they are using this my work to bring users to their site (thus increasing possible ad $), they are profiting off of me and I am seeing no benefit for it.

I attempted to compromise by using adf.ly links so I could generate some $ at a minor inconvenience to those downloading. Instead of posting these links, the moderators at NBA2K.org downloaded the files themselves, then uploaded using their own links. Now, not only do I have no control over what is posted, but they are taking my cut of the pie.

So basically, I'm not a slave. If other people are going to be making money off of my work, I want some DAMMIT. They circumvented any way I could see compensation from my work. So that's why I'm 10/10 mad and won't be releasing publicly for a while. I hope that explains it very well.

I hope somebody from NBA2K.org is reading this. If you are, PM me with "NBA2K.org we want to talk" as the PM title. I'd love to have a friendly discussion with you

i agree totally..i really do appreciate all the effort u put into this project as it made nba 2k13 so much more enjoyable for me..but at the same time more people are enjoying the game because of u...it is rude that the people reposted your work without your consent but other people are given the opportunity to enjoy the game like us. maybe u could add a link to this forum in the start up screen to prevent people from crediting themselves? anyway it's ur choice once again, thank u very much for all the work u put into the project.

Just wanted to know if it was possible to make the last names of the jerseys arch around the jersey number? In the game, the letters of the last names are in a straight line. Shut the hell up. At first they didnt give him credit. He had pm them numerous times butt head. He wants to keep his mod here. Not on other sites making money off of it. I've been going to these sites for months now they haven't had this much action it a while. How would you feel if you made a song and then someone took it and started making bank off of it, and then say sorry here i credited you but you still see no $. Plus they didnt credit everyone else until today and other sites didnt even do that.

Yes. That's great that they're trying to promote the mods, but they don't link anybody to where the mod actually came from (here). This is among the many issues I'm having. How am I supposed to be getting any recognition with a small thing saying "credits to Lakers92" at the bottom of a HUGE OP. Anybody that doesn't know me from NLSC doesn't know that this is where it comes from.

Interesting, I keep in regular contact with him so I'll talk to him about it. For now, I'm just asking all these "stealing" sites to use the adf.ly links I provide them. I'll keep all the non-adf.ly links here. If they step out of line and don't at least post my adf.ly links, I'll just pull the mod altogether like I had planned to do earlier today before talking to the people at NBA2K.org.

Well since you are continuing the project i think i might have found out why association and my player modes dont work. Its just a theory based on my experience with other rosters.

Possible reasons
1. You built this roster off the default MED roster, but MED has numerous versions he has a fantasy version, an association version, a BT version.
Im guessing u used the without injuries version as a base. That roster does not work with association or my career idk why ud have to ask MED but it just doesnt. Im not sure how you would fix this other then recreating the roster on the association version of MEDS 1.1 roster.
The reason i think this is true is cuz the albys version works with association and my career it has some glitches but for the most part it works, and im assuming for the albys versions you used a default albys roster which does work with my career and association.

2. If my understanding is correct your changing the draft picks to be realistic too? idk how that works in a roster but nevertheless that could also be what is causing the issue.
Maybe you make an assocation file with the realistic draft picks an a roster file with just the updated FA and rookies.

I know i read somewhere that changing how many players are on one team could make it work as long as all teams had between 12-15 players for example the celtics had 19 players at one point (i believe 17 in the latest update) if you cut 4 players then it should work. I tried that with MEDS roster and it still crashes so i eliminated that from a possible reason.

BTW i was about to offer to carry the project on if you weren't going to obvs giving u and the other contributers all the credit all i could do really is keep the rosters updated; im far from a pro. But im glad someone who is competent will continue the project.
