Re: NCAA 2K13 v0.15 & CF Preview Showcase (Come Help)

whenever you want to post it is fine by me. If you have it all done now, we could do a preliminary release and update it as the data comes in and gets more consistent. I just want to let people have enough time to play complete seasons or w/e before the tournament, if they so choose

Still doing all the tendencies but I will have it all completed by the end of the month and will release it then. Hopefully the initial version of the reditor will be out as it want to somehow make it compatible with that where eventually all you would have to do is copy and paste to create players.

do you have ratings or anything now? with Leftos' editor we dont need to wait for the REDitor and we already have a database with the "core" of the players already there

I was working on the All the Players from the NBA, but I'll see if I can't do a version of College by the end of the week. How's that?

I'd have no problem with CFs textures on lookalike NBA headshapes, but I know Behindshadows and others may not be up for that

So what has been done about rosters? I could help adjusting player info (number, height, birth date, etc.), but I don't want to waste my time if it has already been done.

Also, I have some ideas of how to generate the rosters and ratings for teams without using actual statistics (as I feel those won't help give a good picture). I will be creating a spreadsheet right now, and updating when I am done.

Re: NCAA 2K13 v0.15 & CF Preview Showcase (Come Help)

So I sort of made a very rough draft of what I was talking about. I did the best I could do in a short amount of time (I didn't want to spend too much time if it wasn't necessary).

Anyways, here's a link to a theoretical template that people could fill out for their team:

Note at the bottom the different worksheets. The input page is what people would have access to. They would fill in the information for each player and then grade the attributes listed 1-10. If you switch over to the calculations worksheet, you'll see the same numbers, and then some identical ones underneath. Just focus on the ones underneath. There are a few calculations going on. First, I adjusted each player's overall so that the average would be exactly 5.0. This is to eliminate bias, so no matter what rating system someone uses, each team is balanced. Then what I did was make it so each players stats averaged out to his overall average. On the calculations page, there is also a "Team Index" and I gave SDSU a 75. This is an arbitrary number, but is a multiplier that will affect players' ratings. Better teams will have a better index. I made sure the team average overall was 5.0, and unless I want each team to be evenly matched, I need a multiplier to make the good teams better than the not-so-good teams.

If you are lost so far, follow with me. The first player I input was Jamaal Franklin. I gave him an overall of 8. Since my teams average overall was >5, I adjusted his overall to 7.7 to avoid bias (I will adjust this formula later). Then, I took all of his stats and adjusted them so their average is 7.7 (again, I will adjust this later and weight accordingly). The team index is 75, and will be used as a multiplier to solve for ratings.

Now, switch to the output worksheet. You will see that everything is a formula! Yay! We like formulas. That means everything is calculated for us. If you understand excel, you can follow it quite easily. If you don't: Position and number are automatically copied from the input page. Height is converted from Feet'Inches to 2k13's method of height (i.e. 6'6 = 198.12), Shoe Brand is changed based upon the school's sponsoring brand (i.e. SDSU = Nike). All Player Overalls are inserted based on a formula using: Player Overall, Team Index, and the player's individual category rating. These are just very rough numbers, as I put little thought into it so far.

Essentially, this will make the rating process automatic. Instead of doing everything by hand, all you will need to do is have several fans grade a team, average those numbers and then put it into excel, and it will output all the ratings.

So yeah, that's my idea. I was bored and had an hour. If this were the real thing, I would actually spend time on the formulas for ratings and such (and create a better method to get rid of bias, etc.) Just let me if you are interested in this at all. If not, I might just start my own project while I wait for this one to be released :P

comeonMAC, we have a database with kinda accurate hair and appearances, weight, height, numbers, and other basic appearances. We need ratings, tendencies, animations, that stuff. Basketball110 has been working on those, as has Fifedawg.

Once I get ratings, I can release a new update, its that simple.

If you are looking for a rating/tendency calculator I have one that I started for making my own roster for the ncaa 2k12 mod. I have 2 versions - 1 with shot location stats and one without. The only place I could find shot location data from was cbs and you have to do it game by game for each player and it only has data for ranked teams. The shot data one makes shot ratings and tendencies a little better but the one without shot locations is pretty accurate too. All you do is copy and paste total stats, per game stats, and advanced stats from the teams stat page on sports-reference.com/cbb into the "INPUT" tab. Then I would assign each player a "play style" and there is a tab ("TENDENCIES AND HOT SPOTS") where you can copy the tendencies from each of 2k's generic play styles into reditor. Then you just copy and paste the ratings into the reditor. Everything is in the same order so you can do the whole team in one quick copy and paste. Each team takes me about 5 minutes to input stats and copy the output into the reditor. I know there isn't a reditor yet but this would give you guys a good base. Feel free to offer advice for the rating formulas. I used information from this site: https://www.2ksports.com/forums/showthr ... ht=formula and formulas from an old CH2K8 rating calc from operation sports. You may not agree with the Overall rating of the players that the game shows but the ratings and tendencies make the game play very well and the players very accurate.

Couple other notes, without shot location data the dunk rating and vertical rating are not very accurate as I was not sure how to determine these with normal stats. I just tied them to blocks because there wasn't much else to measure verticals with but with the shot location data the high flyers play like themselves.

Anyway feel free to download these and see if they could be useful. Hope this is helpful and if you would like I can make a complete database for 2k13 ratings if you would like as it does not take me very long and could hopefully speed up the 2k13 games progress!

Edit: Not sure how to attach an excel file so if somebody could show me how that would be great!

Upload it to Google Drive and post it here.

Also, to the OP, any chance you can post the current rosters you have? I would love to play around with them, and if not to just update UNLV/SDSU so I can play with those teams.

We need to focus a lot more on this mod. This can be great if we all pitch in with the work. Everyone wants a release but no one would even think to help out. Come on guys TEAMWORK makes the DREAM work.

current roster is the one released. We do have a updated appearance one but I need to talk to basketball before releasing it.

we have like 4-5 guys working on databases, uniforms are essentially complete, and there are only a handful of floors not accurate.

I think I am confused. I downloaded both 0.10 and 0.15.

0.10 had all generic players, and the 0.15 download had no roster file, just .iff files. After downloading and applying both, the players are still generic. And I don't mean generic in the sense that they don't have names, but generic as in they don't resemble players on the team. For example, San Diego State has a 7'0 center on the rosters I have (which they don't.)

correct, that is the roster that is released. The one with accurate heights and weights isn't something I have permission to release yet.

Got it. Thank you for clearing that up.

I have a few questions if you don't mind me asking. How did you manage to change the names of the teams? And why did you name them the way you did? For example, Gonzaga is just "Gonza." Is that because "76ers" can only be replaced by 5 letters?

FU** man .. ! I can't wait for Christmas I need my new f'ing laptop so I can put this 2k13 on my computer
It just sucks that this has to be for PC.. It would be amazing if they patched 2k8 and made it have graphics and gameplay of a newer game. Couldn't they do that though?

unfortunately no, but I've felt that 2K8 has held up over the years very nicely
