T-Neck's Retextured 2K13 Crowd


This is a work in progress mod (and a continuation of an older mod) that aims to improve the quality of the crowd in NBA 2K13 by extracting the crowd textures from the team_###.iff files and updating them with more detail. Like last year, I'd like to update the crowd textures for all teams - including the historic teams.

In comparison to the default 2K13 crowd:

- All of the face textures have been changed to have more variety.
- The clothing and accessories (foam hands, signs) now have more shading detail.
- Clothing variety has been increased to include track pants and plaid shirts.
- Some men are bald or wear beanies that match the color of their shirts.
- Shoes and clothing now have more color variety.
- No more jet black T-shirts without detail (as seen in the comparisons below).
- *NEW* The Washington Wizards' fans no longer wear generic jerseys.

As always, I'd be happy to hear any criticisms and/or suggestions you have to improve the mod.

T-neck...but this preview are 2k12 or 2k13...what tool are you using for read 2k13 teams files???

amazing! a must for my game...the only thing that seems out of place are the black guys with the hat...but that's only my opinion, great job overall (Y)

For whatever reason, 2K Sports gave the Wizards crowd generic jerseys back in 2K12 and didn't update them for 2K13. I was surprised when I saw that, considering 2K took the time to make detailed Brooklyn Nets jerseys for the crowd. This time, I tried to make my own jersey texture for the Wizards - which you can see above.

I can update the cheerleaders if I can easily import the 2K12 models to replace the 2K13 ones. Like last year, I'll probably package it with the Enhanced Crowd to make life easier. The camera guys on the sidelines are shiny as hell, so maybe I should bring back the Enhanced Sidelines mod, too.

Thanks. Yeah, it's possible to do it via the textures only (like the famous 2K11 mod that added team color only crowds) and ignore the colors 2K assigns the crowd. You'd just have to black out the shirt alpha maps (which 2K uses to assign colors to the crowd) and color the shirts in the actual textures yourself.

I think like last year, 2K Sports programmed the game to assign everyone in the crowd team colors during playoff games. There's actually quite a few fans with team colors in exhibition games already.

Thanks. I remember a few people critiquing the guy with the hat when I released the 2K12 version too, so maybe it'd make more sense if I just give him an NBA headband.

Hi, I just played a hornets home game, and every member of the crowed were all in a stood up hands at the sides slight movement from foot to foot, basicly every crowed member had lost the random animations and were stood up like zombies :D . As a result I was getting some lag with camera movement as well.

I will return back to default, I havent had time to test other courts/teams, but I can supply a screenshot.

Ok I tested it a bit further its seems that on the Hornets game the crowed will be stuck in stand up single animation until you score, then they settle into a normal pattern of random animations after that. Until your first basket they are all stood up.

I tried some other random games and all seemed good, but maybe try all stadiums one by one and see.

BTW it was a home game, so maybe the bug is with home games? I need to test but its a bit late, looks great BTW.

Thanks for trying the mod and pointing out that issue, DondiWhite.

It's funny you mention that, because it was doing that with the Oklahoma City Thunder crowd when I was testing different teams earlier with NBA Today and they kept on standing around after the tipoff until someone scored. It didn't do that with the Heat or any of the other teams I tested, which is why I overlooked it.

The Hornets don't have a mascot like the Thunder, so it's not an issue with extra data (like last year with the dithering crowd mipmaps). I thought the crowd animations were all stored in a separate IFF file, but maybe I'm wrong. I wonder what could be causing the issue.

guys,guys...but you don't see NBA games in TV???
the animation it's totally normal...and it's totally real like in real life
OKC and HORNETS...until the home team does not score the first goal...they're all standing :D

Yeah i think its a feature 2ksports added.

I noticed this in 1 of the games i played a few days ago.
Cant remember the teams involved but i was impressed.

Thank you Tneck for making the crowd look better (Y) now I feel like its real crowd... not those generic looking people in the crowd.
