CTD after trading deadline/All-Star Game?

Hey all, I've never had NBA 2k13 crash on my immediately after a game, but my current modded Association game is doing that immediately after the All-Star Game. What might trigger that?


Full description:

I'm in my third season with the URB 92/93 rosters and I've run into a game-breaking bug. After finishing the All-Star game, the game crashes-to-desktop, like there's some variable missing. The weird thing is that I can PLAY the ASG, but completing it, including simming it, triggers the immediate CTD. My guess is that it's the news post on the Headlines screen, maybe the jerseys?

Obviously I've played two seasons before this, so it's especially weird. I have redownloaded all the parts of the mod, so it's possible some new jersey is getting in the way?

Also, the Stars/Elites game didn't have any players, and I got no news about who won the dunk/3 point contest, so it's possible the entire weekend got borked somehow.

I have Reditor so if there are a couple variables I can switch around, that would be great. I've just never had a constant POST-game crash with 2k13

Having a similar problem with the '85 roster at the start of season 3 in association mode. Just crashes to desktop as well. Anyone know what is causing our problems?

It did it with yours after about 7 seasons. I've had two diff errors. One after simming the all-star game in year 2020 and another after starting the beginning of the 2014/2015 seasons. Any suggestions?

The 1991 v2 roster seems to be working fine as I'm through 2025 and no problems and I've used new draft classes every year.

Can u please check elite and stars teams before sim, are there some players?

Well, I don't think there are because all teams that didn't play the '85 season are locked out (TTYPE set to 18 or something else). No all-star teams, elite, legend teams etc are available. I'll email you your default roster I'm using (no changes made to it) and the one I am trying to use. the 1991 roster still has access to all teams but the grizzlies and raptors.

In short and maybe others agree, I don't want dummy teams and would at least like the option to utilize a legend team in place of dummy teams. I understand the idea of a dummy team, but it causes so many issues after one season. Using a 85 draft class for example, Patrick Ewing, mullin, malone etc all go to dummy teams (which I am okay with because it feels like a real expansion). Then in the 2nd season I now have those same guys making 1st team all NBA or 2nd team, etc. The real negative is after a couple of seasons, the six "dummy teams" start to become competitive and my playoffs is full of teams that all look the same. I have no clue of the dummy team I am playing has Ewing or Mullin on it. My point is nobody wants to see dummy teams for 28 seasons lol. I'd rather the Orlando "Tragic" be filled with some overall 50-60 players but still suck

At the very least, can you unlock everything and maybe consider removing the dummy teams with raptors, bobcats etc. Then perhaps we can fill those rosters with the no name guys from the legend teams (Mike Smith overall 60 etc) just to fill out the rosters? I'd be happy to help you with this. I just don't know how to change logos back etc. You'd know those changes, but I could help fill in the rosters.

I'll email you the two files and you can see them for yourself if you want. I know I am now talking about two diff issues and the assoc. crashing is the biggest problem.

@skoadam - the issue isn't the Elites/Stars. I set the ASG to 5/6 and it behaved properly, got the right players and news, and still crashed afterward.

As I mentioned in skoadam's thread, it's also possible that the crash occurs due to the trading deadline, same day as the ASG.

But this mean all roster will ctd, in which season calendar set deadline with asg?

I haven't seen those dates show together before. Is it possible to edit association once it's started to turn off trade deadline?

I don't see a way to change the trade deadline from either Red MC or the Turbo Trainer.

One thing that may have helped trigger this: I noticed that when I'd start a new season, games would be "hidden" on the initial schedule, like they'd start a few days before the first day I could see on the screen.

Stildo, you mentioned in the big URB thread that you were getting ASG crashes. Does that mean you're getting them on days when the trade deadline isn't the same day?

Hey Arkaeyn! I haven't had a trade deadline on the same date as all-star games yet. I did re-test 1985 roster (see my post I just made with explanation) and I turned off the trade deadline in my association. so far, no problems that haven't been resolved by my solution mentioned here at the end: viewtopic.php?f=149&t=89036&p=1687015#p1687015

Thanks. I'm not exactly sure what you did--you saved three different games at the start of the season, and one crashed but others didn't?

Sorry I am just now replaying. Yes, every time I save a game, I save it three times. It is a pain and takes 15 seconds to do, but I don't have crash problems when doing this. I was able to duplicate the CTD when I simmed 8-15 season with it only auto saving once at the beginning of each season. I did multiple tests with the '85, '87, '91, '93 rosters and never had a problem when I saved it every year three times then simmed the season, then saved 3 times, simmed a season etc.

Once in a great while something would crash, but a reload of another file I had and I resumed with no issues.

Just had my new association game crash while in the process of saving, which deleted the save file. Wow. I think there's a conspiracy to get me to stop playing 2k13.
