Problems with Windows 8.1

I updated to Windows 8.1 and now all of sudden, during game play there seems to be something in the middle of the screen. I have no clue what it is but the object is small, white and when the shot clock gets down to 5 the object flashes blue. Its more annoying than anything else. Has anyone experienced this? It happened right after I updated windows 8.
