Rookie Needs Help!!

I'm sure this is posted somewhere on this site, but how do I put some of the patches in the game. I would like to spruce up my game a bit and get some of those old school teams and courts. I like all of the patches. Can some one help me with the basics. I new to playing 2K on the PC.
