Bugs & Glitches are here to stay

I always see a lot of people complaining about the various bugs and glitches that "need to be fixed"
you all need to understand that these things are not able to be "fixed" they can only be tweaked for now, so you will not be seeing absolute fixes in "next years game" or the one after that
The reason being is these bugs/issues are a result of the various engines they're using that literally make the game what it is, the Artificial Intelligence, (bad floor spacing, stupid teammates, etc....) the Graphics (only faces look decent, everything else looks like a HD version of a PS2/Xbox era game best example is the IMMOVABLE HAIR, lol, etc.....) and Physics ( bad animations, and unrealistic player movement, and impossible things happening on the court) engines, all these things are ALL STAYING UNTIL THE NEXT GEN OF CONSOLES.

So the best they could do for now is tweak things here and there, but no major changes can be made because that would require a whole new engine to be built from the ground up, and that's something they will not do and frankly dont have to do until the next generation of consoles come out.
When that happens in a few years, the current engines in many of these games (especially sports games) will not be able to be recycled like they were for this console generation where they just continued using the base engines from the PS2 and Xbox era and simply spruced them up for the 360 and PS3.

The processing power of the next generation consoles will be too advanced and will require a brand new setup from many of these current companies like EA and VC. I mean, imagine still having immovable hair and players that look like wax figures of themselves on the Xbox720 and PS4, lol, that shiznit will simply not fly, and any game company that tries to pull it should get to bankrupting. This is something I have personally been waiting for many years now and am super excited for, so it's up to us to as consumers to let them know with our purchasing power what we will and will not stand for.
Anyway didn't wanna be a downer, I'm just kind of tired of seeing the same threads on all these forums about this particular issue, as I'm always seeing people going apes**t over why a particular glitch hasn't been addressed just because it's the newest iteration of the game. Be real about it and see it for what it really is, don't be naive

Some of that stuff goes beyond what we're talking about in the Bugs & Glitches thread. Things like the instant replay not working properly, incorrect direct switching icons, crashes/lock-ups and the like is stuff that conceivably could be patched. Things like trading frequency/logic is stuff they've been able to tune in past games, so it's worth noting as well.

Some people don't make the distinction between wishlist item and fixable issue, but I'd say for the most part the stuff we're talking about in that thread are genuine bugs and issues that can/should be addressed, rather than things related to where we want to see the games go, which does bring us to the matter of what's feasible with the current tech.

^ yea I understand all that, like the menu and logic stuff, that's all coding that should be pretty straight forward to the developers.

you got guys going crazy creating threads because somebody tattoo or accessory is wrong, baahaha....

so what you think though Andrew, you think the studios will try to recycle some things again for the next gen consoles in order to save money ?
Or will they man up and built from scratch as they should have done...
It's really surprising how much stuff they reuse from way back, I mean prior to 2K12 for example when they said their online coding/engine or whatever you wanna call it, they admitted they've been using since the Dreamcast days and finally got around to updating the main portion of it for 2K12

We can only hope that 2K has a developer kit for the next gen of consoles and have been creating an engine to maximize it's potential.

I see what you are saying but,
-They can have movable hair since they have movable jerseys. For hair it's just an animation, but until they actually make the hair look good and not some kind of helmet, then having it move will only make the game look worse. They could also apply cloth physics to it and tweak it so it doesn't look like cloth.
-Floor spacing has been better in some versions and worse in others.
-AI can always be improved. They are looping scripts and tables and matrices and are not baked in to the engine.

Yeah, those complaints seem to pop up everywhere. Shoes seem to be a dealbreaker for a lot of people too. I understand that getting all the shoes right is all part of making the game accurate and shoes are a big part of basketball culture, but it seems weird to me that that's the detail that completely ruins the game for some people. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, of course, but to me it's blowing things out of proportion.

I'd say some things will be recycled, at least until they get a handle of new stuff they're developing and implement it. That's where NBA Live ran into trouble, moving ahead with using ANT before it was properly polished and working for a basketball game instead of developing it in the background and introducing it when it was ready.

I can't expect that 2k is going to hit some magical switch that will supposedly fix what's wrong with their sales record setting basketball game just to appease the crowd that points out what they don't like about their core issues and engine/platform limitations. I hope they have been working on a new engine to take advantage of the new consoles. For all we know, they will continue with what they do best, adding even more animations while tweaking gameplay and increasing the visual quality a bit for the new consoles processing power until they improve their graphics engine.

If the jump in processing power is similar to the last next gen upgrade, you can expect development costs to jump as well, which will make it even harder to improve on annual titles while making significant improvements and changes to each new version.

I absolutely hate the shoes in 2k13 be nice of they could lest get the material zones correct, alot of the jordans look horrible period. especially a few of the pairs i own.

but i would never ever flame them as hard as some do since well they could say skrew it and not make any game for pc, like EA sports after giving us ps2 graphics in the hd gen. saying these gfx are ps2 era go back and get the last nba live EA made those are ps2 graphics.

long live 2k even if they do cut features, do not fix bugs, and take forever to patch. just because i know how EA treated us.
