2K13 First Week Sales Set Franchise Record

Sat Oct 13, 2012 12:37 am

According to the firm’s sell-through figures, the latest iteration in the series has moved 49% more copies than “the previous fastest-seller”, NBA 2K11.

“This record-shattering growth is due in part to the expanding global popularity of the NBA 2K brand, which accounted for a 66% increase in international sales as compared with NBA 2K11,” said the firm.

The number of online users for 2K13 has more than doubled from last year’s NBA 2K12. In addition, the number of played online games “has also grown exponentially,” as NBA 2K13 has experienced a 127% increase over last year’s totals.

Well, except on PCDD.

Might've edged over 50% had they released the DD version on time.

That's why I went ahead and got the disc version. I don't understand why the DD version is any better outside of not having to use the disc.

Well, not having to use the disc is one thing, then there's being able to reinstall the game even if you lose/break/scratch the disc and on any PC you have access to using just your Steam or whatever account.

i bought disc version for 16.99 euros, i think is going to be cheaper that the steam version. I prefer dd, but in this case, having the game before with better price was too much to not buy the disc version tbh.

I wonder if the increase of international sales could mean new ways of development next years.

I mean NT´s and also Euroleague competition, it doesn´t need to be included in 2kX, just could be a dlc or a game apart from Nba 2kX, I guess it would reach a high number of sales considering the base of game is working yet (nba 2k12 for example).

Now, I will wake up

PS: If online experience were just efficient in PC platform sales would be even higher. For me it´s a vicious circle: they don´t care about Pc version then it´s much "easier" getting a not legal copy (not my case, obviously). If online worked as it should do ......
