Is it possible to give your MyPlayer a Portrait?

I tried it and imported it to the iff file, but it didn't show up even after editing the portrait ID. I assume I'd have to edit the cdf, but no tutorial I've googled actually helps. But could it just be a thing that happens when you control a career like CAL mode when you control a superstar but don't have his portrait?

it has been my experience that playing myplayer/ mycareer modes always generates a player photo
Using the game engine graphics even if u assign custom cf or portrait. But in other modes
The portait will show up if you assign the player to a team.
