We have a slider thread, and I noticed you posted there, but I agree that we should talk more in-depth about gameplay. However, there is no reason to attack mod makers to do so.
I haven't experienced a problem with any point guards like you described. I mostly play My Player on the 360, so editing sliders is out of the question, and once my rating hit 99, any realistic gamepaly went out the window when I started putting up 110 points a game over the last few games to try and get the ROTY and get my team into the playoffs.
In my experience with editing 2K sliders, it's always been about the global tendencies, the defensive sliders, and after that some slight tweaking to offense and attributes to get some fun gameplay. After a couple of years I know I can't make it perfect, but I figured out a balance to some of them.
Here's an example with the global tendencies. If I put "inside shot", and "close shot" higher than "look for post players", the post player is less likely to back his defender down before going up with a shot. If I put "3pt shot" higher than "attack the basket", when a player is open on the perimeter they might take that shot instead of driving depending on their own 3pt/attack tendencies. The higher you set these global tendencies, the quicker the cpu takes a shot, the more likely it is to go in, especially if they already have a good rating in that area(so I later reduce offense), and the quicker the cpu offense will make a pass to an open player in a spot that matches the increased tendency. It's about finding a balance that gives me a sense of a competitive and intelligent opponent without being cheated by high probabilities.
