SLAM ONLINEs Preview: JZ said make it like Live? 2K12 Retros

....what
Jay didn’t exactly have a hand in the technical aspects of making this happen, but we were told he had the idea behind the philosophy of separating the motions of the hands and feet between two different buttons

.....what? So he wanted Live controls essentially?

Speaking of the Dream Team, there’s a special anniversary court that is used whenever the Dream Team faces up against 2012′s Team USA. This will come as no surprise, but both the Dream Team and Team USA have 99 ratings for offense, defense and overall.

The Intro includes NBA highlights—in the 2K graphics, naturally—spliced between concert footage of Jay performing “PSA (Interlude),” and eventually leads into an introductory menu screen, which resembles a stage: also a Jay-Z idea

Basically anything you do in the game earns your created player....earn that currency through advancing in the different game modes in basically any way, but you may also purchase that in-game currency with real-life scrilla

Association mode is very much still present, with most of the same great features as in 2K12. (We were also told the trades made by computer-controlled franchises will be a little more realistic this year, too.)

There’s no longer any kind of specific mode for the legends teams, but each of those old-school squads in 2k12 is still playable, including one new one: The Allen Iverson-led ’00-01 Philadelphia 76ers. There’s also a celebrity team, starring Justin Bieber, Meek Mill, Wale, JB Smoove, Jersey Shore‘s Vinny and Pauly D, Bow Wow, Sean Kingston, Mac Miller and Brian Baumgartner (Kevin from The Office).
Opinions are my own.

I'm sold. Bring it on.

P.S. The intro to the '92-'12 game sounds like the cheesiest thing ever. I'm laughing my ass off right now.

So they are ignoring Association for a second year straight? That's kinda disapointing.. They should have spent time they wasted on unnecesary things like different outfits for my career NBA Draft or trying to sign Justin Bieber for the game, on trying to realise huge potential of this mode.. Well, hopefully they will upgrade this mode next year..

I hope Association doesnt suck. If the gameplay is right with a good trade logic and enough rewards are in there then it should be fine

It'd be nice if Association received a little more attention but it's already a fairly deep mode and the Total Sim Control stuff sounds like a promising addition. So long as they address some of the nagging issues and bugs, Association should be a fairly enjoyable experience, if not necessarily innovative.

Does anybody know if they have announced some kind of intervention whilst simming game. I think live 07 started with that (my last live game) and it was great. You could sim "boring" games to the 4th quarter and then jump right into it, which makes 82 games association easily possible with having a hand on all games.

They haven't said a lot about Total Sim Control but I don't recall reading anything that sounds similar to Live's Sim Intervention. Apparently we'll have more control over the simulated results, being able to set strategies for simulated games and things like that, but I don't think there's an intervention feature. If I've simply overlooked it in the snippets we've received so far or there turns out to be one, that'd obviously be good news. Definitely a handy feature.

Hey yeh, i remember that feature. "Sim intervention" or something. Man, it was so handy. It's a crime that doesn't exist anymore.

Didn't 23K say last year that association wasn't changed much, but they'd address it for 2k13?

Well, they have added Total Sim Control and starting an Association from the current point in the real season, but not much else has been revealed, and the latest preview makes it seem like not much else has actually changed in Offline Assocations.

As I say in the Podcast we did today, we can still hope for minor tweaks, additions and changes that don't fit in a preview, but that could be revealed in an Association insight.

When it says all teams are returning, does anyone know if that includes the 2001 Kings/91 Warriors? I would assume so just because they are adding another 2001 team.

All we know is what's revealed in the article, but it's probably likely that they're back too.

When 2K says "we didn't have time this year, but we'll address it next year" it doesn't mean what people think it means.
