Shadow Modding Tutorial

Postby seanjohn2525 on Wed Jun 20, 2012 1:12 am

hi guys.. as i promise this is the tutorial about Shadow Modding like my Black-Ops global....
Here's what you need....
NOTE this will be complicated i must warn you all... this will give you a headache...

1. Leftos Global Editor
2. Hex Editor ( im currently using Hex Workshop )'
3. Notepad ( to put all the values that you edited )
4. and a PATIENCE... this is very important :D :D

okay so let's start this....
first, open Leftos Global Editor and put the values that you want to edit first ( this will become your base shadow for the one's that will not be edited ( i do this coz i dont know all the location of the skin fro gameplay, replay mode, sprite replay mode, in time out, and in medium and low res player )

Image

Then, after you search or copy the values from other shadow mod that been post in the thread, open you hex editor and select the global that your using in your game.. click FILE then OPEN you will now select your global in your nba2k12 folder..( remember to back up your global.. this is important when your editing... don't try to follow my step when im just beginning to do this :D :D )

Image

You will now see many numbers and letters... dont confuse yet.. this is just the beginning of the headache :D :D
NOTE: be sure that you have the same configuration of screen in your hex editor. the reason i do this is to know the row in upper section of hex editor.. ( from 0 to 17 only )

here's the parameters of the head and body of players skin in gameplay and in replay mode...

010B6138 Body of deng like skins
00F2A960 Face of deng like skins
00F2D978 face of deng like skins in gameplay
010B8F10 body of deng like skins in gameplay

00F93E10 body of rose like skins
00FA6878 face of rose like skins
00FA98A8 face of rose like skins in gameplay
00F96BE8 body of rose like skins in gameplay

00F413D0 body of wade like skins
00F53EB0 face of wade like skins
00F56EC8 face of wade like skins in gameplay
00F441A8 Body of wade like skins in gameplay

00FBD2E8 body of Duncan like skins
00B1B6B8 face of Duncan like skins
00B1E688 face of Duncan like skins in gameplay
00FC0060 body of Duncan like skins in gameplay

00F6A920 body of kobe like skins
00F7D3A0 face of kobe like skins
00F803D0 face of kobe like skins in gameplay
00F6D6F8 Body of kobe like skins gameplay

for white players i dont edit their values coz it will not match the body in their heads.... this will make a them have a two tone of skins.... dont know why...

so, lets try to edit kobe's body shadow
scroll down to 00F6A920 ( dont know if there's a way you find this easily :D )
this is the body of dark players like kobe, lebron etc...

you will see this whole numbers ...
i highlight all the values that i known for researching that you need to edit and put a label to them so you will know what it is...

Image

thats it click FILE then SAVE and play the game, now you will see that kobe's body is now change and now have a shadow... just remember to cpe the original values and higlight it so you will know where and what are you editing coz there is the chance that you will get confused ....

00000040, CDCC4C3E, 9A99993E, CDCCCC3E is the shadowing details for the body ( make the shadow intense )
6666E63F is for the lighting that focusinf the body
6666A63F6F12833D is for the sweat effect..

for the other values i dont know except for the values that include in leftos tool, you can edit it also if you want.. thats why you should remain open the global editor tool of leftos so you should know the values that you edited using the tool...

sorry if my tutorial is very short and hard to understand.. im not good at doing tutorials. Hope Jao or Leftos or others understand what im trying to say and help me to make all of you what i want to say :D :D

no prob bro i promised this to all of you :D :D sorry if this take too long to share coz i experimenting on this values before i share it.... by the way some values dont come in order as it in the pics.. but the tip is just be familiar with the values so if its not in that position you can see it in other parameters...

Hey man,

I try to "delete" your sweat effect for your shadow mod (dont like in game, players are too bright)... but not work to me using your tuto.

First, i try it with LeBron and Kobe skins. Go to 00F6A920 line and find 6666A63F6F12833D is for the sweat effect... (in your shadow mod have other numbers right? If i put the 6666A63F6F12833D (originas one right?), not work, players like Kobe and LeBron staying with the brightness in gameplay... =(

6666A63F ( 1.3 ) 6F12833D ( 0.064 ) is the default sweat for all the players.... if you try to lower it down you will have less sweat.. but there is sweat effect that cannot be lighten... like in my case the nba 2k11 sweat didnt decrease even you lower the values.. can i ask what sweat effect are you using??

I use your Black ops. I´m just try to edit your Black Ops to use without sweat because after first quarter, players are too bright to me.

It´s possible? It´s a HEX work or just edit your global on Leftos Global Editor?

It´s possible put only your Shadows on default global like mine?

I think what Lagoa's trying to say is the progressive sweat effect in gameplay, correct if I'm wrong, you hex edited the progressive sweat on the gameplay which it will show more sweat? for me it is also a little too bright.

Yeap! Gen is right!

It´s possible revert this hex mod and use your great blackops without gameplay progressive sweat and hex court reflection?

Would be perfect! :)

he's said before that he can't manual change those two since michaelutz made the progressive sweat and the realistic full reflections was done on accident by tatlopuyo, and we've yet to figure out what exactly he changed to make it work.
Opinions are my own.

I believe the Global Editor will not work, but you can use Hex on Steroids to do the same thing. I'd recommend checking out JaoSming's stickied thread in the NBA 2K13 tutorials section for more info on that.
