[clydeli] ENBSeries experiments, palette edit released.

Tue Nov 15, 2011 1:02 am

11/15 updated:

five steps to setup and try my settings:
1. Do a Google search:" nba 2k11 photo mod ultra real 4" to find and download johndoe22's photo mod ultra 4.
2. Open enbseries.ini to find ColorSaturationDay, ColorSaturationNight, and set them on -2, -1 (or what your favor).
3. If you want to try my current palette edit of the mod, download at: http://www.mediafire.com/?dfmdnrs5b2eh7pd
4. Put all the files under your NBA 2K12 directory.
5. Run the game and see how it performs for you.

three more screens at -2, -1 with more redness and smoother wrinkle effect on white uniforms

Image Pistons vs Magic
Image Clippers vs Rockets

-
I always use ENBSeries for color enhancements as I don't like the original colors in 2K.
My little experiments use johndoe22's photo mod ultra 4, a pretty solid one from last year, as the base.

Thanks a lot to Boris Vorontsov for ENBSeries and johndoe22 for his palette and basic settings
And I think I take no much credit on following experiments:

First, original 2K colors in comparison with original photo mod ultra 4:

I like the little redness and the emboss effect and this is why I use photo mod ultra 4 as a base.
To get close to the usual TV visuals and my personal taste, I prefer less saturation.
So I toned down ColorSaturationDay & ColorSaturationNight (originally at 0, 0), I fixed ColorSaturationDay at -2
Image at -2, -2
Image at -2, 0
Image at -2, -1 as a compromise

Use -2, -1 as the base, I tried modifying the palette, and it has some interesting outcomes.
:!: Please watch original images to see how the wrinkles stand out on Celtics' uniforms.

then I tried adding even more redness to the palette:
Image more redness
Image even more redness

:?: why redness: you can do a quick search on youtube or Google to see how the redness take a part on many broadcast screens and on players' skin.

Here's another series of images of Heat vs Lakers:

That's all for now, I may get some more tweaks when I have time.
Just want to see how you think about these screens for now. :)
Please feel free to ask anything you want to know and join the discussion.

this is great.. (Y) (Y) (Y)

looks real like watching tv.. but you gotta compare what is closest to the tv brodcast so it will be realistic.. (Y) (Y) (Y)

Looks weird after first but after spending about a min. in full screen my eyes got used to the difference. I still think I should test it out on my system and my LCD screen. Other than that the colors "felt" dull and not fully "alive". I know kinda strange I just dont know how to really explain it.

Its is me or the sharpness is wayyy to high and It looks like AA is bad or not high at all. Like i said I would love to test this out on my current system setup.

To each there own. Johndoe22 photomods are the best for me, currently using cobra2k crystal clear.

Every broadcaster has their own visuals, so it's hard to decide... hmm For example, Heat vs Lakers:

I agree, I think the emboss and sharpen effect make the screen jaggy, I have no ideas of good solutions for now...

clydeli, in my opinion of course, the celtics -2,-2 looked perfect. how does that setting look with other teams?

Clydeli - glad you didn't take my criticism in a bad way. I am glad that someone like you are trying to tweak things a bit. I sure as hell can't do it nor do I have the patience to. :)
as for the embossing, I can really tell the difference for example. The Celtics screen shot if you look at the dorna where it says footlocker you can tell the embossing is there.

Cant wait to see the final outcome. (Y)

Or, you can do this

a modd with ESPN broadcast
a modd with TNT broadcast
a modd with "non national" broadcast (and this try to find some modd that fits to everybody)

looks pretty real , very nice

but to be honest, i dont like it because it does make the game pop. Colours and lighting is too dull for a game lol. If i wanted to watch TV i would do so, but this is a game so it shud look like one.. lol
