Re: [Tool] Keep My Mod v0.1.4 beta7 BIG NEWS + ERROR FIXED!

Postby Leftos on Fri Dec 30, 2011 4:37 am

Now that the tool's working on all environments (or so it seems) and the big bad bug is behind us and done for, I have to make one final note.

READ THE README FILE BEFORE YOU USE THE TOOL.
It will most probably answer any questions you have regarding how the tool works, what you need to do, why things happen the way they happen, etc.

You can find the latest readme here (it didn't make it on v0.1.4 beta7).

UPDATE: Now uploaded fully working version on NLSC Downloads too.

It did disable enb. Well it showed that the enb was on but the enb effect weren't working.

I've thought of something that may have caused the game to use the original Direct3D dll's instead of ENB's, but if that doesn't work, I'm out of ideas on what the tool is doing that's disabling ENB.

v0.1.4 beta8 is available. You can grab it, as always, by using the "latest beta" links from the first post.

It includes a possible compatibility fix for ENB and other dll-hooking based mods; changed the Start Game option to also set the Working Directory to the game's installation folder when starting the game.

chicagoRAW, please try out the new version. Start the tool and start the game from inside the tool. After that, if you still can't get ENB to be enabled, try starting the tool and then starting the game but not from within the tool, but from the game's regular shortcut. Tell me if the new beta8 or if the workaround works.

To all modders reading this, please start including Keep My Mod modlists with your mods (instructions in the Readme), and urging people to use Keep My Mod. You wouldn't want your mods overridden by 2K's updates now, would you? :P

=================================================

v0.1.4 beta9 is available. Fixes bug that crashed the tool if the user used the Readme button after creating a modlist. May have fixed other potential crashes after creating a modlist.

Video tutorial for users and modders up on Youtube!

It's nearly watchable right now, but I uploaded it in 1920x1080, so maybe after a bit more processing, you'll get clearer HD video.
UPDATE: Now available in 1080p!

Thanks Andrew for the sticky, and everyone else for the support during this process.

Right now we need to get as many modders on board as we can, getting them to pack modlists with their mods so that no mod gets overridden by 2K.

Yeah, I know what you mean, the tool's UI could be much better, but up until now I was mostly worried about getting the program to actually work for everyone and to cover all re-sync scenarios. Now that it seems to be working, I'll wait a few days, and maybe take it to stable and start working on the UI a bit.

============================================

v0.1.4 beta10 released.

Takes care of the scenario of a re-sync being cut short and restarted afterwards; a possible case for this scenario is when a re-sync starts during a game, you quit the game to the menus, and the re-sync restarts there. This scenario previously caused the tool to crash.

Same links as always.
Installer (if this is your first-time downloading Keep My Mod): http://www.mediafire.com/?83p1kyunknw131o
Update Binaries (if you have a previous version of Keep My Mod installed): http://www.mediafire.com/?w2a2uqh46qbe9cu

===========================================

v0.1.4 beta11 released.

Added update notifications. If a newer version than the one you're using is available, the tool informs you and if you click Yes in the prompt, it leads you to whatever place you can download the latest version from.

===========================================

v0.1.4 beta12 released.

Fixes minor bug in update notification mechanism.

Known issues: Tool reports its version as 0.1.4.11 instead of 0.1.4.12.

You're not using the latest version. This bug was fixed. Starting from beta10, you'll also get update notifications, to make sure you stay up to date.

Everytime I mention a new beta is available, the link next to "latest beta" is updated with the latest installer and binaries. So yes, it's still the link in the first post named "latest beta".

v0.1.5 is in the works and is going through internal testing and debugging. v0.1.4.12 has been really stable however, and you should be able to live with that version for a while longer.

Main changes in v0.1.5 are:
- Tool will now start even if the game's running, but won't hide the rosters, thus avoiding causing any problems to the game; note that this is still an experimental feature
- Manual features "Restore Online Data Backup" and "Force Keep My Mods" will now work at all times; previously the tool would crash as it wouldn't handle some scenarios
- "Restore Online Data Backup" now temporarily disables the tool's automatic features, namely watching for re-syncs and forcing your mods again
- "Force Keep My Mods" now re-enables the tool's automatic features if they were disabled by "Restore Online Data Backup"

The first change will allow you to start the tool even if the game's running, for example if you forgot to start the tool first, or if the tool crashed and you want to restart it. The last two changes allow you to temporarily disable the tool's automatic checks and forcing of mods, if you want to get into NBA Today or Online for example, and then enable them back later on. Readme will include a segment on how to both play an NBA Today game and keep your mods.

If you're feeling risky, can't wait to test out the new features, or just want to help in the development & debugging process, then download the latest experimental build from here:

Re: [Tool] Keep My Mod v0.1.4 beta12 + v0.1.5 preview

Postby Leftos on Sat Dec 31, 2011 1:49 pm

Thanks for your kind words JaoSming, means a lot.

Development version updated to v0.1.5 beta1.
- Fixes a conflict created in beta0 between the tool and itself which caused it to detect a re-sync when it deleted the Online Data\downloads folder itself, sometimes resulting in an infinite loop of deleting the folder and re-creating it
- Installer improved to remove all leftovers when uninstalling
- This revision will report itself as v0.1.5.0; a mistake on my part

Links are in the first post. As always, whenever an update is released, the links remain the same, so you'll find beta1 at the same place you downloaded beta0, exactly same link.

Users of the stable (v0.1.4.12) version don't have to care about this, nor will they be prompted to upgrade to a development version. A separate development update notification may be set-up in the future.

Development version updated to v0.1.5 beta2:
- Added a small "Re-syncing..." prompt below the Online Data Browser button that informs users that a re-sync is taking place; this can be used along with Restore Online Data Backup to let the user know when they can access NBA Today, Online, and the rest of the features that can't be used during a re-sync

Haven't had that problem, I was editing shoes and jump shots for 2 hours yesterday, so I'm not sure what's causing it. When you say the latest version, you mean 0.1.4 beta12, or 0.1.5 beta2? I'm not saying I recommend you go to 0.1.5 beta2, but I'm just asking.

Are you sure the game's freezing and that it's not just going through a re-sync? I've added an easy way in 0.1.5 to know when the game's re-syncing, but I'm not recommending that version yet.

So, let's try something else. Don't use my tool once, just start the game, let it go through its motions, let it do its updates, and go to edit a player or a shoe again. If it freezes again, it's a game bug. If it doesn't, I'll have to look into what scenario is causing those freezes.

What would help even more though, is when your game supposedly freezes, for you to immediately Alt-Tab into the tool, click on Save Logs, grab the two logs from your desktop and paste them here IN SPOILER TAGS (as in [ spoiler ]...log text here...[ /spoiler ] without the spaces inside the tags of course). That could probably get me the scenario I'm not handling correctly.

Development version updated to v0.1.5 beta3. Big big update.
- Many changes to how the manual features work in enabling and disabling the programs automatic capabilities.
- Hiding the rosters now only works if the game isn't running.
- Made many features work differently on whether the game's running or not, to avoid possible problems.
- The game's data is set-up better now when you start the game from inside the tool, and any synchronization delays added due to the tool to the game's boot-up sequence should now be eliminated

Try it out, tell me what you think, give me the error reports or tell me if something goes wrong (fingers crossed it won't :P)!

Re: [Tool] Keep My Mod v0.1.4 beta12 + v0.1.5 preview

Postby Leftos on Mon Jan 02, 2012 11:38 pm

v0.1.5 moved from development to stable channel.
Stable users of v0.1.4 beta10 upwards should be informed of the updated release automatically. Links in the first post now point to v0.1.5.5.

Changelog for this version (since 0.1.4):
  • Tool will now start even if the game's running, but won't hide the rosters, thus avoiding causing any problems to the game; note that this is still an experimental feature
  • Manual features "Restore Online Data Backup" and "Force Keep My Mods" will now work at all times; previously the tool would crash as it wouldn't handle some scenarios
  • "Restore Online Data Backup" now temporarily disables the tool's automatic features, namely watching for re-syncs and forcing your mods again
  • "Force Keep My Mods" now re-enables the tool's automatic features if they were disabled by "Restore Online Data Backup"
  • Added a small "Re-syncing..." prompt below the Online Data Browser button that informs users that a re-sync is taking place; this can be used along with "Restore Online Data Backup" to let the user know when they can access NBA Today, Online, and the rest of the features that can't be used during a re-sync; see notes 6 and 6.1 for more information
  • The tool now reports whether its automatic capabilities are enabled or disabled, right above the log
