Looking to make my own CF for my player

Postby MacBryce on Tue Oct 18, 2011 11:57 pm

Hi everyone,

I was hoping to get some help here on making my own CF for my player. I wanted to ask here if all the necessary tools to do so are already available for NBA 2K12. I have seen quite a few tools for previous versions of the game, but I would like to avoid wasting time on them if they are not compatible with 2K12. So if anyone could help me out here and let me know if a) all the necessary tools are available to get this project done, and if possible b) some links to the apps I need. I already have access to a full copy of FaceGen Modeller as well as Blender.

Thanks in advance.

start with this, mainly look at the cyberface tutorial
viewtopic.php?f=144&t=82787

all you need is that one program

You'll want to find a player with the same hair and basic face shape as yours since we cannot do any 3D editing to faces (yet)

Not sure why I haven't found that thread before, so thanks for point it out. I'll try to retexture Goran Dragic's face into my own then. :-D

Quick follow-up: What tool am I waiting for if I want to edit the 3D model of a face? Did it exist for 2K11?

If I run into problems, I'll post them here so you can improve that pretty slick tutorial.

Thanks!

A problem with NBA2KX Mod Tool. I uncompressed png1031.iff (went with Pavlovic in the end) which worked fine. Then I tried opening it in the Mod Tool, but this resulted in an error: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 67. Other cyberfaces lead to a oob error as well, with a different number.

I think my Java is completely up to date. Any idea on what's going wrong?

you cant use the mod tool, the cyberface files are completely different this year. You have to use the cyberface importer / exporter that I listed in that thread.

as for the 3d stuff, it was done through CFC (cyberface converter) and the Mod Tool for 2k11, but again, since they changed the format we need to wait for new tools for the 3D stuff.

Keep the feedback comin' (Y)

So silly that I didn't scroll down anymore. I figured that it was just a case of decompression, extracting the textures, opening everything in Photoshop using nVidia's DDS plugin and doing everything in reverse, and as a result I didn't look further when the application showed the error.

I managed to extract the DDSes and opened them in Photoshop (tnx to the company where I work for that :-D). It seems that these things have become a little bit more complex from when I last retextured something, as I don't really know what the different textures are all used for. If there's a tutorial on that, I'd love to read it. If not, I'll figure it out by myself (and maybe write down my findings here for future reference and to help others). Or should I just settle with editing texture 3 and 5 for now?

Thanks for your patience. :-)

I gave it a try re-texturing 3 and 5 and it worked out pretty well. The guy has some resemblance to me, although the 3D model needs some work to be spot-on. I'll wait for the new tools.

Some quick questions, though.

1) Is it possible to change the eye color and/or hair type with the 3D tools?
2) How do I implement this face into "my player"? I tried viewtopic.php?f=136&t=81407, by adding png6666.iff to the NBA 2K12 folder and entering 6666 as ID, but it failed to work. Am I doing something wrong or does the tool need to be updated?

Thanks in advance. :-)

1) Eye color is through the roster, and hair will be editable with the 3d tools
2) I think there is a chinese trainer out that applies the CF for you, check the releases forum (you might need to do a search)

Thanks ever so much, JaoSming.

It took me a while (since CF, my and player are all common search terms) but I found this trainer:
viewtopic.php?f=143&t=82611

Using it managed to get my cyberface working. :-)

The eye color even worked out, as my My Player had the correct color. Excellent.

Looking forward to the 3D tools, but pretty happy for now. Thanks you for all your help, and hopefully, this thread will help others in the future as well. :-)
