What is the best patch(steam btw) to play with?

I've been sticking with 2k11 because that's probably the best basketball game you can play. Patches and everything in 2k12 are awful from what I've heard. That said, my 2k11 franchise does a CTD(11 seasons running) and I decided it was time to hit up the my player mode but I want to use 2k12 for that(so much more polish and stuff to do).

What's the best way to go about playing 2k12 with MP in mind?

I'd recommend trying the official patch if you're playing My Player, given the included fixes to trading logic etc.

You should definitely use the official patch with the game, it fixes many thing, now you don't have to afraid about Knicks trading away Carmelo or Stoudamire for a bunch of 70 overals player, it also make you trigger dunk easier, fix some player collision issues, also some plays that is running but you can continue to executed it. Also contact between Nba 2k12 is much better than Nba 2k11, I would recomended to change to NBA 2k12, study the Traing section in game modes, and I guarantee your NBA 2k12 will be more fun NBA 2k11, the only thing that I think make people think NBA 2k11 is better because it is easier to make smart play, since if you press hop and shot you pretty much unguardable, also blacktops is removed which was I think the dumbest idea ever.

Not necessarily. You can install your mod then play offline so that it doesn't update.
