If the superglobal isn't the issue, try deleting both the Roster.ROS file and the Online Data, run the game, and it should both recreate the roster and download the Online Data again. You'll know that the Online Data has finished downloading, when the
%APPDATA%\2K Sports\NBA 2K12\Cache\patches
folder disappears.
Go to Reset Roster after it finishes downloading to get the default Roster to become the latest one.
P.S. Hope you didn't extract the Online Data into your game installation folder.
Well, I deleted the Roster file and the Online Data, but it still crashes. I have tried three different players; a rookie, one who would have online data shoes, and one who wouldn't. It still will not load any players. I don't think it has to do with the global, I just included that to specify my scenario. What's interesting is that while I have a Cache folder, I never had a patches subfolder. I should also note that I had installed one of the first Online Data 'packages' (if that's what you would call them) and everything was fine. Very confused...
Well now, something even more strange. I just played a quick game and everything loaded fine. It's just I cannot get into the 'Edit Player' area. When I click on it, it briefly flashes "Loading NikeID Data ..." before closing my game, leading me to believe even more that it is some issue with the Online Data.
EDIT: Now I can get in; I think I'm alright for now, thank you very much.
