why is my Anti Aliasing only at 4x / quality at NA?

Why can't i make my anti-aliasing (MCAA) at 8x ? the maximum i can get is 4x.

I have two laptops. one is with NVIDIA GEFORCE 9300M GS. only at 512MB and core 2duo.

the second is corei3, with AMD radeon HD 6470M 2gig.

the problem is that, the first laptop can have its antialiasing at 8x quality until 2. cant use maximum graphics because its too slow.

but on the second laptop,fast, but only at 4x, and the quality unselectable at N/A.

wHY? please help.

I can't say for sure as I only have had nvidia cards with 2K12. It's likely an issue with support for graphic cards. AMD and nvidia cards do AA differently and both are often not fully supported. Some AA modes are entirely designed by nvidia and thus only supported by them (like PhysX is) and while AMD often can do them it's not as good as default.

I'd just play on the second laptop.

yeah, im playing using the 2nd laptop.but my AA is only at 4x. cant bring it to maximum graphics.
looks good, but then it could be better.

really? for me i could see A LOT OF DIFFERENCE. BIG DIFFERENCE for anti-aliasing past 4x. it looks smoother on the edges of the figures. very very detailed.

i suppose it's different for everyone depending on the card and type of AA used and other factors. as long as you find your sweet spot, it's all good

Edit: Just noticed you were asking for the AMD card and not the NVIDIA one :/ Does it have a settings panel like NVIDIA's? Maybe there's a similar option.

You can force 8x aa from the NVIDIA Control Panel:
Right click your desktop, go to the NVIDIA Control Panel
3D Settings -> Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings
Choose nba2k12.exe from the list
You can override any graphic setting from the list there, and don't forget to click "Apply" when you're done
