Editing logos

Ive found old logos for the Timberwolves,Raptors and Bobcats.But they are in square and i dont know how make them without square fon.Any advise?

you need to not use paint and learn how to use transparency in GIMP, Photoshop or Paintshop Pro

so patchers that made logos for 2k11 used transparency methods in Photoshop?

can you give some quick tips in photoshop please?

1.open file (in gif),switch on rgb mode
2.by quickselection tool select white corners
3. next click on ''eye'' in right top corner? thats all?

i dont use photoshop, I use GIMP, but I'm sure there are tutorials for PS online.

For gimp I select all, cut, paste, use the fuzzy select tool or the color tool to select what I want transparent, then hit the Delete button, then save the image as a png or dds.

use the magic eraser tool. just click on the whites you don't want and it'll turn to transparent. to find the magic eraser tool hold the 'eraser' tool and there it is. i think this is the fastest way.
