Accidentally lost skill points in my player

Postby MacBryce on Wed Oct 12, 2011 8:36 am

Hi,

I accidentally lost quite a few skill points in my player after I discovered that I could remove points again after purchasing them. I wanted to cancel this, of course, but somehow the autosave kicked in. Now I'm down 10 low post skill points and I'm a bit upset about it. Is there a way to regain these again? I remember that there used to be a hex hack for NBA 2K11.

Thanks in advance.

You may have not actually lost those skill points. I recently removed ratings from certain attributes to get the skill points back so I could allocate them to other ratings. That is probably what you did. So, you would have to lower other ratings to get those skill points back, then use them on your low post rating.

Thanks, Steve. That did the trick for me. (In case someone is wondering, the address for the skill points was 1C47A84.)

@Pdub: I'm pretty sure that I've lost points. I got my low post at 65, then I brought it to 30 again (getting 9000+ spendable skill points), and then I accidentally confirmed this. I immediately went to fix my little mistake, but I can't get low post higher than 59. It seems logical as well from a design point of view. If it wouldn't cost you points to do this, then you could transform your player over and over again, never having to commit to your decisions. Nevertheless, I'll take another look at my other skill points and see if you're right and I made mistake.

When you remove points after adding to it and confirming the change, you lose a certain percentage of the points as a cost to ensure you cannot easily redistribute points at your leisure.

Where does it say that? Every time I take away a rating, I count the points and I get the full amount back for what I paid.

This is from Erick Boenisch, Producer for NBA 2K11/2K12 (buyback applies to both versions)

"Skill Point buyback: This one is quite simple. In 2K11, you are now allowed to buy back Skill Points should you later change your mind on an attribute you had previously upgraded. The catch? You only get 75% of the original purchase price back. This means that if you spent 100 Skill Points upgrading your Offensive Awareness, you will only receive 75 Skill Points in return should you choose to sell it back at a later date. This affords you greater flexibility in developing your My Player without being able to do so in a fashion that negatively impacts My Player Pick-Up games."

If you just put the points into the attribute without confirming the changes, you can gain back 100%.
