Help! how can i improve my defense?

im playing the miami heat vs nets, and nj nets is shooting at 65% from the field. 2k added many offensive weapons and i think the defense cant keep up. any tips guys? thank you.

If you hold down L2(PS3) your man will lock down on D. The most important thing to do in 2k12 D is the most important thing to do in real D and that's stay in front of your man, don't swipe at the ball too much and always try to steal it.

there's 3 different ways of moving your D ,
normal speed without LT(L2),
low with LT , and
quick with both trigger ( LT + RT // L2+R2)

you have to master those 3 paces of speed. normal D is when the ball handler is moving around , low speed when he tries to size you up and quick when he's going to drive , you can put your body in front of him by moving right stick + LR +RT toward him to prevent a drive in the paint. you have to read your opponent movement

There are also some quick defensive hops by holding RT/R2 and tapping the left stick in a direction. Be careful as the wrong direction can move you out of position.

Make def.awareness and hands 100,now your players will start contesting shots and try deflecting passes
If that doesnt work enough reduce cpu quickness ,cpu always cheats cos playing at thinking speed.

I noticed that if you hold the block button (not press), the CPU misses more, even if you are not really close to them.
