Your Player (2K12 Edition!)

Postby Lamrock on Wed Oct 05, 2011 1:37 pm

Another year, another edition of this thread. Should be fine this year with the mode being updated.

I have a 63 rated 3pt specialist point guard on the Bucks. We're 1-8 and I'm the sixth man, averaging just under 15 points per game on dubious efficiency. We lost our first 8 and Skiles was fired. I had my best game (around 30 pts, 5 assists on good shooting) in our first win of the season against the Craptors.

Note: This would make sense for the stories section, but we've always had it here.

heh, i was just thinking about making this thread. beat me to it!

i made a 6'6" athletic SG, his rating's 62.

my college game wasn't too shabby. i had 12pts(5/10 FG, 2/2 FT), 3reb, 4ast.
i got into foul trouble early. 2 fouls in the first quarter, picked up 2 more in the third. so i didn't get as much playing time as i probably could have.
i had a sweet poster though. it was the first bucket of the night. i saved the replay and made a reel out of it. i tried to upload but 2k thinks language is fucking inappropriate.

houston, phoenix, and philidelphia spoke with me. out of the three, phoenix sounded the most interesting, and of course, i goofed up on their questions. I use a logitech controller, the buttons on it are numbered. 2k12 lists everything as letters, so i wasn't sure which buttons went to each answer. i would have probably been drafted #13, but since I had that little mishap, I went 14th to houston.

haven't done much outside of that yet. i did my 3 drills. got silver the first two times, because i'm a chump.
pulled in gold on the third, got +1 in medium.

that's all for now.

Oh yeah, forgot about that game at the beginning. I had like 32 points in that (didn't win PotG because my team lost) with like eight 3 pointers made and was interviewed by the Bobcats, Bucks and Warriors. I interviewed seemingly well with all of them, but the 'Cats passed on me and I went to Milwaukee.

I like the drills this year. The shooting one is still fun and very easy, but the other ones are interesting.

I think having a thread here in the general section for quick posts and chatter is fine. In-depth stories can go in the Stories section. (Y)

yeah, i never use to play any of the drills other then shooting in previous 2k games. i'll probably give the new ones a try when i get some more drills.

played my first game. 6pts (2/2 FG, 2-2 FT), 8reb (4off), 3ast, 1 steal, 0 turnovers in 9 minutes.
game was against utah, my team (houston) won 93-89. statistics seem reasonable @ 7 minute quarters, we'll see if they stay that way.

I have my quarters at 12 minutes. I almost liked it better at 5, but the scores were obviously way too low. May drop them down to the 8-10 minute range so the games don't take so long to play.

yeah, it's tough. you want the realistic stats but who wants to play 12 minute quarters for 82 games.
i have my quarters at 7 minutes and simulated quarters @ 11, just so the rest of the league doesn't end up too far ahead.

no

--

started the season off 3-0, lost my last 4 games to ind (96-100), phi (86-87), gs (72-85), lac (107-111).

dumped a lot of skill points into medium (i'm at 76 total right now) so i could help out with the scoring. putting my points there has actually helped out a lot, unfortunately we've been losing anyways. 19, 8, 18, 25 pts in my last four games. 6/12 from deep in my last two games, despite having a 50 in 3pt.

my overall: 65
my averages: 11.4ppg, 2.9reb, 2.0ast, 1.4 steals, 0.3 blocks, 2.3topg, .516 fg%, .318 3pt%, .900 ft%

turnovers are probably my biggest flaw, going to start saving my points to up my ball security.

also, don't know about you guys, but my rockets have been making a lot of trades:

chase budinger and '13 2nd round pick -> LAL for shannon brown

luis scola -> DET for richard hamilton and chris wilcox

terrence williams and '13 1st round pick - POR for Nicolas Batum

This mode is a lot of fun. Really hooked on it.

After our 0-8 start, we have won five of eight with Nellie as the coach. I've been established as our sixth man and will probably get promoted to starting SG before the all-star break as I lead the team in scoring. I'm the point guard version of Nick Young as my efficiency is atrocious and we're still the worst offensive team in the NBA. I did win Eastern Conference rookie of the month, being the only rookie in the conference!

No trades have happened at all around the league for me. Wouldn't be surprised to see my Bucks make a deal though, at 5-11.

Overall: 64
Averages: 17.3 PPG, 1.9 APG, .372% FG, .360% 3pt, .350% FT, 58 3ptrs made, 161 3ptrs made (both lead league)

Put the minutes at nine and it has been very solid statistically. Would love for the games to be shorter, but the realism and success for my player is worth it. Working towards upping my point guard skills and getting those assists up.

wow, that's a lot of 3's, also real surprised your game hasn't had any trades.

losing streak continues, got over confident in my 3ball, shot 3/10 from deep against NOH. a lot of them were poorly timed, but whatever.

had 4 blocks, 2 steals that game. about the only good that came out of it.

I'm a 6'6 215lbs SG All Around, In the rookie showcase I got 26 points, 3 rebounds 3 assists and 2 steals on 50 %fg and 100 %ft with 67% 3pt shooting, with like 1 turnover, I got drafted 11th overall by the Warriors, my first game I only played like 4 minutes and got 5 points and 2 assists (against the lakers) in my 2nd game I got 19 points, 3 rebounds 1 assist against the kings, right now I am 7th on the rotation I started 8th we are 1-1 (lost against the lakers, won against the kings). I'm starting my guy as more of a mid range jump shooter then I'll focus on the other stuff later.

Similarly frustrating game for me: 6-13 Bucks taking on 5-13 Wizards. I have 32 points and 5 assists on actually efficient shooting, but Brandon Jennings dribbled it out of bounds like 5 times in the fourth and gave up a late and-one to some scrub to force OT. Nonetheless, I hit a clutch three to put us up 95-94 with 6 seconds left in OT.

Of course, Jennings leaves his man wide open for a three. 6-14. I think I might demand a trade outta here. Loving the minutes and primacy Nellie's giving me, but the team's not going anywhere, he likes playing me at PF and it's hard to rack up the assists when Michael Redd's my most reliable recipient.

19.3 PPG and around 2.5 APG for now.

sounds like our players are fairly similar !

yeah, that's a bummer. very weird that you're being played at the 4. how tall is your player?

i've thought about being traded as well, but i've decided that i'll play for houston for at least the rest of my rookie contract. they're still making a lot of questionable trades though:

kyle lowry and hasheem thabeet for devin harris
jordan hill and '12 2nd round pick for joey graham and manny harris

i really have no idea what they're thinking. outside of patterson, hayes, and wilcox (who only sees about 4 minutes in a 48 minute game); we have no bigs in our lineup.
1. devin harris, 2. myself, 3. kevin martin, 4. pat patterson, 5. chuck hayes
6. shannon brown, 7, courtney lee, 8. johnny flynn, 9. joey graham, 10. goran dragic
11. manny harris, 12. chris wilcox

and we have richard hamilton out with a broken toe and nicolas batum out with a sprained wrist. he should be coming back shortly though.
so as you can see. lots of guards/wings.

anyways...

team record: 6-8

my overall: 66
my averages: 16.9ppg, 3.4reb, 2.3ast, 1.4 steals, 1.4 blocks, 2.2 topg, .465 FG%, .246 3PT%, .880 FT%

last game result: 85-74 win @ DET
last game stat line: 45pts, 8reb, 3ast, 2 steals, 3 blocks, 3 turnovers, 19/29 FG, 7/8 FT

Things have gone from bad to turrible on the Bucks. We're like 8-20 now, and while I'm leading the team in scoring with 23 PPG (and just a shade under 3 APG), my career has taken a hit with my moving the difficulty up. (had 5 straight 35+ pt games on Pro)

Looks like your player is doing better than mine now, airBerlin. Same career high but my shooting averages are 39/38/70. The team did trade Captain Jack and Boykins for Odom and Steve Blake. Thought it would help me get some assists, but Odom seems to dribble out of bounds when he gets the ball for my other teammates.

Will probably finish my 2K11 playoffs before I resume much more as play-calling needs to be patched in for it to be worth going forward.
