Differences Between Console and PC Versions of 2K12

Postby JaoSming on Wed Oct 05, 2011 5:40 am

From http://www.nba-live.com/?p=1550

  • Online still forces you to play on Low Graphic Quality settings (same as 2K11 & 2K10)
  • The console’s Lighting Engine did not make it into the PC version again this year
  • The Custom Arena Music feature is not in the PC version
  • Courts are inaccurate for non-US versions of the game
  • No Classic Kings or Warriors teams
  • There are no alternate control schemes

Other than not being able to edit the iff files (yet, hopefully) did I miss anything else?
Opinions are my own.

Yeah, you missed the point that says "2K still goes lame and doesn't give us full console quality".

Only thing I care about from that list is

The console’s Lighting Engine did not make it into the PC version again this year

Which sucks, But ill get over it. Assuming modding will be possible.

All of this sucks ass. Online - as always - won't even work, so I don't really care about the low settings. Wrong courts in non-US versions? Standard by now. Deceiving manual? Sure, last year's one had 2K10 controls and then I found myself searching the game for an option which wasn't there like an idiot. Lighting engine? Not a surprise either. Can't say I didn't see all of this coming. Except the Kings and Warriors. '02 Kings are one of the really few classic teams I actually cared about. Way to go, 2K. You disappoint me.

yes the "new" menus are in. I don't like them. I could navigate the old ones a lot faster.

That's true, I wasn't thinking in terms of ease, merely aesthetic appeal.

This links to a thread regarding these issues on OS : http://bit.ly/qXUtmg

Go to twitter and tweet it to @Ronnie2K , @2ksports , @Beluba , @LD2K

Maybe enough pressure will lead to something.

I really hope it's a case where the iff files are hidden, but the way they put so much importance on the 'special codes' makes me think otherwise.

Why? Those teams were for people who pre-ordered the game. Why would you be disappointed for something not intended for you in the first place?

http://kotaku.com/5834332/bonus-nba-2k1 ... ail-copies

Bonus NBA 2K12 Teams Don’t Require Preorder, Will Be In All Retail Copies

Correcting an earlier misconception we reported: NBA 2K12 will offer codes for two classic teams, the 1990-91 Golden State Warriors and the 2001-2002 Sacramento Kings. These codes will be printed and inserted into all retail copies of the game, and will be available through all retail outlets, but there will be a limited supply of them. Once the codes run out, the game will ship copies without them.

I stand corrected. Still...

Yea, I'm entitled to those teams though, Day 1 purchase, nada. Still, we'll figure it out eventually.

right stick flick, left stick in one direction, A, in another direction, A - done

now its

right stick flick, tap down (cause you can't be accurate holding LS), flick right/A, tap again, A - done

yea, I dunno, I was too used to the old menus.
