Can anyone help? Need High Settings For 2k12!

Postby qfrmcpt310 on Fri Sep 23, 2011 8:07 pm

Okay, the last 2 years I've dealt with medium setting player models which all of you know lowers some textures and the jerseys lose movement. Well, with 2k12 coming soon and me having the finances to do something, I wanted to know if any of you know what I could buy to improve my ability to play games with higher settings. Here are my specs:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
Processor: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.2Ghz
Memory: 2046MB RAM(was 3)
DirectX 11

Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 4650(I believe. bought back at beginning of 2010)
Approx. Memory-1274MB

I know somethings about cpu's, but with this stuff Im still pretty much a noob. If there is anything else I should post please let me know.

You're going to upgrade?

Better wait for a month or two. A new processor will be coming. And hopefully. Sandy bridge will cost less but the AMD new procie is good, hope so.xD

CPU and Video Card are priorities. 2GB is good enough, more is better and RAM is cheap but it will have less impact than upgrading the CPU and card.

Of course upgrading from a Pentium will require you to also get a new motherboard. And you'll probably want to move to Windows 7 64-bit.

As always any recommendations depend on what you can spend.

Okay, well idk if it's doable, but I was hoping $250 would be enough to upgrade it enough to the point I could get better looking games. I've looked on Amazon and seen this:

http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Phenom-Proces ... 15&sr=1-24

Would that be a good place to start upgrading?

Since you've been using Intel processor, I am 100% positive, that you cannot expect to buy an AMD cpu and start using it without replacing the motherboard because of compatibility issues.

I would suggest you get a new Motherboard along with new CPU, possibly add more ram. Don't be shy about spending more money on it, because you will save money in the long run; You would be fine for the next 3-4 years, otherwise, if you buy a cheap and old computer parts, you will be facing the same problems after a year.

I would imagine an upgrade to last about 4 years will cost you about 400-500 bucks. Just save some more money and make an upgrade later, and play medium settings for now.

The CPU you are looking at is two cores, I was using an Athlon x2 before and I couldn't play on high settings, until I upgraded to Phenom X6

X6 is not really recommended unless you're into massive encoding, etc.

Try this.

i3-2100
Asrock U3S3
500 GB WDC SATA III
Powercolor 6850 PCS+ OC ed.

thar. If you're NOT playing on 1920x1080,etc

I suggets,just get Sapphire 6790.:) Well. 6850 is better. 10FPS+ better than 6790.:D

Oh...Powersupply too! FSP Hexa 500w is great!

For gamers.:D
