Insight #6 - Training Camp

Essentially it's a Training Camp for the user, not a player in the game. It teaches you the different moves in the game with on screen commands and demonstrations by mentors, who are legends like Hakeem or Jordan. Cool stuff.
Opinions are my own.

Glad there's another one on Wednesday because outside of mentors, that was a pretty boring article. Should have been a section on a bigger insight imo.

It's a good mode so we can learn all the moves and controls. But some insights on game play, and game play footage, would be nice.

Sounds good to me. Not being as experienced or proficient with Isomotion as a lot of the other people here, it seems like a good way to sharpen one's skills. Adding the legends as mentors is a fun idea. Probably not something everyone will have a use for except to unlock whatever it is that comes when you complete Training Camp (according to the note at the end of the Insight) but I reckon I will.

I'd give that nod to the Art Direction Insight myself, not much that could really be said there since they're leaving presentation specifics for another Insight.

Seems useful for me :D I've got most of the moves down for 2K11 but the post-moves I've struggled a bit with. I wonder what the reward in the end is :?

Probably just a different portrait that shows up in Training Camp mode. MJ is wearing the same jersey in his portrait.

So does it mean we will having all different Headshots for the current players in 2K12?

Possibly, though if I've understood the Insight correctly the mode will entail controlling a current NBA player and being mentored by a legend, in which case only the current players involved with the mode would need and thus have special portrait files.

Luckily since you're a member here, you already know that that has always been inconsequential  (because we have sweet mods, is what I'm saying here)

Anyway, this obviously looks like they were inspired by the off-season workouts of NBA players like Kobe and then Dwight with Hakeem, and also with the 'mentor-pupil' relationships between people like Kareem-Bynum or Ewing/Hakeem-Howard, and then thought "this would be a cool concept to use in the game!"
I love it when the developers are as much of a geek as us the players. :applaud:

I totally agree with you, why some people respond to postive things like they do sometimes I don't know. I mean you don't have to love this or think its the greatest thing in the world. But its a very need concept as far as showing us how to do moves, adding fun to it by giving us mentors. Even more to make it a gameplay the mentors legends challange current players, and if thats not enough after you beat them and the training camp there is a "secret reward" lol so it adds to the game making you want to play it just to see what it is. 2k continues to impress me with things they are putting in this game to make sure the user has a great experience and well as understands how to play it.

Again, I'm not jumping out of my shoes saying this is the best, but it definetly gets a clap from me for another addition to the game that makes it better.

Can't blame folks for not getting excited about stuff they're just not interested in; the response to the My Player Insight was much more enthusiastic and I'd say it will be the same when they really get into the nuts and bolts of gameplay improvements, as well as Association mode.

That said, I think it's important to remember that we're at a point where a lot of info is coming out a few days a week; if today's info isn't to everyone's liking, chances are the details they want to read about are coming soon. They're not going to strike a chord with everyone every day and they tend to spread out the info a bit so they don't reveal all the juicy details first.

Only thing that could make this better is if Jordan/Hakeem/Whoever else did voice overs, that would be just epic.

If they're already appearing in the game, I wouldn't think it would cost that much more (if anything) to have them provide voiceovers for a few lines.

I agree and I'm really looking forward to go through the camp. As someone mentioned above, post moves is something I have to practice too.

Especially with them completely revamping the way post moves are performed this is a great feature.
