My Player Week - Day 4 - Insight Next

Postby JaoSming on Wed Sep 07, 2011 3:40 am

First day of updates leading into the My Player Insight on Friday.

Image
My Player Career of Ronnie2K - Pre-Draft Interviews: Before draft night, Ronnie must go through a rigorous interview process with multiple GM's vying for his talents. Depending on one's answers, character will be judged and draft value may soar or plummet. The Bobcats are interested in Ronnie, but is he interested in going to Charlotte?
Opinions are my own.

Man, that's awesome. But I'd like better if they could improve the way your team work with your myplayer. We reach a point that every single play is for my player, it gets dull and boring not watching our teammates scoring. But I like the job 2k is doing, improving every year.

honestly, what did you expect? Some revolutionary new CAP face? Again, I ask all PC users to look at 2K8 and before's CAP faces and tell me we aren't better off right now.

Also, it looks like we will get another tidbit of info in 3 hours and again in 6 hours. I guess this isn't a day by day thing like last year.

 seriously, the changes I would like to see is more recognition for accomplishments have the commentary talk about me more, like where I came from and what bracket would I be placed in as far as one of the greatest to lace em up or one of the best PG,SG,C,SF,PF the game has seen today stuff like that would be cool, multiple sponsor deals and make the decision if I want to be apart of the company and not have the computer choose for me, design my own shoe with more design features and not just have one sponsor like Jordan but have multiple like Nike, Reebok, ect. just some of the things I hope will be changed

I honestly dont get whats wrong with the CF system. Its not like they will ever make it really life-like. I like it, it is easy to use and you make yourself look different from the bunch.

My Player Career of Ronnie2K - Mock Draft: After Ronnie's performance in the Rookie Showcase and Pre-Draft Interviews, the basketball pundits debate where Ronnie should go in the draft (just a prognostication, not what will absolutely happen). As you can see, the scouts aren't wild about his bite matching up to his bark, saying "he is delusional about his own abilities."

One thing I would like to see is the possibility to make a instant impact at the NBA. There should be some kind of estimated rating based upon your performance on draft combine and summer circuit. Not just 40 rated players.

I like how they have incorporated more off court aspects. The pre-draft interview should be pretty fun especially when trying to impress the team you want. The real interesting part will be when we find out what it takes for a gm to let u slip into the second round.
The Mock Draft analysis doesn't look like it will have much weight in where you actually get chose. Just like the feedback they originally gave out back in 2k10, its seems like this aspect is just to enhance presentation and looks to have little impact unless the analysis actually effects which teams are interested/ or how much interest they have in you. I'm probably going to worry more about perfecting my pre-draft interview answers so I can land a spot on one of my favorite teams

The faces look a bit better in that second shot. I'd prefer they worked on them rather than focusing on pointless things like sleeve types and advertising placement.

The faces look a bit better to me, too. That's not to say there isn't room for improvement but they look like a step up from last year, where it was difficult to make a unique looking face with tools the game provided.

The interview is a nice touch and the way it factors into the mock draft is cool too. We see players in real life affect their status in the Draft with their attitude, so that's a realistic detail and adds another layer to your player, like the post game interviews last year. Good stuff.

I guess the mock draft screenshot also confirms that we'll have generic rookies in place of real ones, with the lockout preventing the real rookies from being included.

Faces look different on that second screen. That's something I don't like about My Player, it's like everyone looks the same when the face is straight up front.

My Player Career of Ronnie2K - David Stern's NBA Draft: For the first time, David Stern joined the 2K Sports studios and lent his voice to the NBA Draft. In NBA 2K12, Stern announces each team's pick for the entire 1st Round, something NEVER done before. Ronnie shakes Stern's hand and goes #20 as projected to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Opinions are my own.

That's pretty cool. Pretty ordinary David Stern face, though.

EDIT: Also, looks like the starting ratings are going to be a bit kinder and fairer this year.

about the Elites uniform in the first screenshot
The mode begins with you playing in a college all star game at Madison Square Garden.

From an OS impressions thread, someone went to a press only event.

also
The biggest change I saw was the addition of franchise interviews before the draft. Three GMs will meet with you and ask you a series of questions. The questions are team specific (Phoenix asked me how I felt about learning from Steve Nash and the Bucks asked me if I was OK with playing with Brandon Jennings) and depending on how you answer them determines your draft status (I told Phoenix that I would love playing with Nash and told the Bucks they should trade Jennings and draft me.). Next comes the draft and there is a little bit of drama to it. You have to watch the entire draft until your name is called (no skipping) and listen to David Stern (Stern’s real voice) call each name. Other additions include contract negotiations, players get paid a check each month and can use the money to purchase attributes or do activities to make them more popular (like pay for team activities).
Opinions are my own.

I'm in two minds about that. On one hand, that sounds awesome, they've obviously put a lot of work into the presentation on it and it's something everyone who plays My Player should see at least once. However, I'm not a huge fan of unskippable cutscenes in general, I believe the user should have the option to just get on with the game if they choose. I could see it being annoying if you're starting over from scratch with a new player, you might not have the time or patience to sit through it all again. Again it sounds awesome, but sim-to-action options are nice if you're pressed for time or just want to get on with it.
