There's a note on the official NBA 2K Facebook page, but it hasn't been updated for the past couple of roster releases.

What happens to the teams if I want to update the roster in the middle of my MyPlayer season? Will the update work?

Possibly. Again, there is no ETA at this time but we seem to be on track for a February release, same as last year. That hasn't officially been confirmed though and is merely speculation based on what has been said and what happened last year. Once again, the only fixes that will be included are the ones that have been received so far by the consoles.

it works fine for me, I think it just matters when you play according to when they update it for each day

From 56 to 69 overall. Seems pretty fair, you don't want to go overboard given the small sample size but a boost definitely was in order.
