Here just a video and commentary of what most of us hate about this game on defense.

That is some troubling defensive AI.

Good god this guy is the largest douche I've ever heard.
I've suddenly got the urge to stick knives into my ear drums.

I hate people that make statements as if they're a question.

I am Ron Burgundy? You're not funny, you're not the Czar, you're not sweet.

Honestly the worst thing about it is the comments, am I really alone in thinking this guy is a complete douche? I can't even describe how suddenly angry I am after watching that video.

But yea that happens quite a bit, defensive rotation has never been perfect in 2k, but I think the combination of slower reactions on D (a good thing), and your teammates wanting to switch to their regular matchups too often is the root cause of this, and is what is magnifying the problem this year.

I used to not take kindly to him bragging every play he made and talking smack so much. But after watching his videos a few times, now I just ignore it and watch the video for what it is, entertainment. He seems like a smart guy. Cut him some slack its just a YouTube video for entertainment.

There actually are funny moments during his videos and the first time I heard a few of his auto tunes I couldnnt stop laughing or replaying them.

Nah bro, you wrong... Chris Smoove is awesome. Watch a couple of his other videos, they are informative and entertaining. He is not Czar, he doesn't claim to be. He is more of entertainer kind of videomaker :D Comments are good because these are his subscribers who watch more of his videos, we know how he is like :D He is far from douche bro honestly, i don't even know what made you say he is

I've never had that happen. I wonder if it its a result of some setting. I bet it has something to do with the pre rotation help defense.

Man. Glad I haven't wasted $60 on 2K12 yet. Nothing irritates me more than when my teammate AI leaves the opponent wide open. I can live with the fact that it was my fault if the opposition scores, but if it's the AI acting stupid, that's just too much.

My player on HOF is the most fixed game of basketball I have ever seen.

Do you mean the outcomes of certain plays seem scripted?

my player is a sg

i've had awkward rotations where i was guarding the other teams pg and my pg would come and guard him as well, expecting me to go back to the sg. or sometimes when screens are set, if i can't get to my man, there is no switch, etc. there's definitely a problem with the rotations.

well, i haven't seen many people complain about this (although it's understandable if they did). maybe i've just missed those threads, but a lot of the people that i've seen talking about the defense has nothing to do with this. the threads i've seen talk about the other team being too fast or how they can't keep up with the guy their guarding. something i haven't really had a problem with.

I have the same problem. Sometimes the switching just do not make any sense or happens all too suddenly. But honestly it's not that big issue (at least not to me), as it happend maybe 10-15 times in already 25 games (12 min/q) to me.

Good for you. It happens a lot to me, especially in My Player mode. I was just guarding my man then suddenly somebody comes and takes my prey away and I was like "WTF is he doing here" and of course the man he left gets a pass and scores! yay

EDIT:
Another funny bug I found, though in the offense in My Player mode, is that when the shot clock is winding down and you make a good pass to a teammate for the last shot, sometimes he passes it back to you resulting into a 24 sec shot clock violation and a turnover for you

This also happened to me a few times. It's pretty annoying.

That's exactly what I'm complaining about right from the start! Do you still think the defense is alright? No, it's fucking terrible. It's not like stuff like this happens rarely, it happens on most of the possessions for me. Playing My Player on the Suns, there are three possible outcomes of the CPU team's possessions:

- they get a wide open three and make it (happens most of the time)
- they decide to drive to the basket and almost always get fouled
- they get an open shot but miss it in which case they will get the offensive rebound and score anyway (that might have something to do with the Suns having no rebounders except Gortat, but also might very well be the 2K signature user team's uselessness)

Last game, after I got subbed in for the first time, the opponents have made all 7 or 8 of their first shots and none of them were taken by my man. Unfortunately, we can't check the team stats during our playing time, but I feel like the CPU team is shooting at least 70% FG when I'm on the court. The video shows a few perfect examples of 2K10 defense (leaving people wide open for no reason) in 2K12. Oh well, history likes to repeat itself. The last example also shows the switch on defense logic isn't improved from 2K11 - your teammate leaves his man open and as the guy's taking an open shot, you get switched to him, but it's too late to do anything and you get punished for him scoring. So irritating. As for the teammates' defense, non-player lock it's not any better.

That leads me to the question: do 2K test their games before releasing? Like, at all? Every single year there are quite a few huge failures which seem pretty impossible to miss if you do even a tiny bit of testing (2K12 trades FTW!). The lack of defense makes every game I play more and more frustrating and 2K12 will probably follow 2K10 and 2K11's fate: getting shelved for half a year (until the patch release, that is). I think I've had enough of this, 2K.

My thoughts exactly.

About Smoove, I used to be a big fan of his, but these days... not really. Around the time when he made Machinima, he's gotten way too cocky and full of himself for me to still enjoy his commentary. Actually, I think it's kind of annoying now, especially with all the autotune which I hate with a passion (but it was probably one of the reasons for his fanatical fanbase to grow). His gameplays are usually good though, so I still take a look at his videos sometimes and just don't pay much attention to the crap he says.

i think people are either over-exaggerating or they're just not good at the game.

it's not that bad.

Ofcourse this is a usual response. I have noticed this over and over again ever since this one major bullshit happened. I was Lamarcus aldridge in CAL mode. I was already guarding my man in the post. There was no need for Brandon Roy to double over to guard this nooby post player while I was already guarding him. As soon as the Post player passed it back to Roy's man (great shooter), Roy ran back to him (good thing right?). But guess what happened after that? While Roy's man was still holding the ball at the 3 point line....he ran the fuck back towards my guy for no fucking reason. No fucking reason. Wide open 3...what a waste of putting in effort to play defense.

If so, could you tell me what can I do to stop my teammates from leaving their men open, sir good-at-the-game?

I've never claimed to be an NBA 2K genius, but notice that the stuff I'm complaining about barely ever involves a human-controlled player. It's the AI that's messing up all the damn time. When I get beat and my man scores, I can admit I screwed up. But when it's my teammates' fault, what can I do about that?

if im playing off my dude on d and one of my teamates try to switch i just hit the lock on button and they go back

Pdub, My team would play great D for 22 seconds and then at the last second they back up and let the man hit a open shot. And the cpu hardly misses on HOF especially the post moves.

Have the people complaining adjusted their coach tendencies, or their defensive matchups in the game?

I agree about people who make statements as questions? Usually it's half a statement? followed by the rest uttered as a statement. The problem is that it's more and more prevalent, especially in movies and television.
