Playing PC version on HDTV Sound Problem

Postby bowdown on Tue Jun 19, 2012 7:10 am

Im playing my PC version of the game on my HDTV 42'' LED. The game has sound to begin with but if I try to skip through the begining introductions of the game by pressing A on the 360 controller then the sound suddenly just goes away. All types of sounds go away. Nothing can be heard from the game. All settings are still the same.

It happens at random moments when I try to skip something such as Introductory music of the game, in game introductions, any sort of presentation during the game that I try to skip can cause this sudden disappearance of sound to occur.

Do you hear your PC sound through the HDTV via HDMI?

yeah. I use a HDMI cable and all other sounds from the PC are simultaneously audible on the TV except for the 2k12 running on the computer.

A couple possibilities.

The hdmi audio codec for your video card hdmi out could be in conflict with your sound card.
Your motherboard might need a bios update. Search the manufacturers website and read if any bios updates solve an hdmi audio problem. If not, you won't need it.

If you are on windows 7, set 2k12 to windows mode with a smaller resolution. Open the playback devices by right clicking the speaker icon on the windows taskbar. Play the game and see which device shows sounds playing. You should be able to see the monitor on the right of the device moving up and down.
