I bought this game yesterday, and I don't understand why the online option doesn't work. It says there's a problem connecting, I have an internet connection though (obviously)...any fixes?

did you install the official patch?

No, I don't know why, but my computer does not allow me to install it, says "The update patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be updated may be missing...etc"

I bought it at gamestop.

then make sure you have the correct version of the official patch. downloads.php?cat=144

other than that, no idea

If everything is up to date, then your firewall/security software may be blocking the connection.

are you guys saying that after patching the game the online will work? As far as my experience is: NBA 2k online gameplay is non excistent and does not work.

It should work, but NBA 2K12's online support does leave much to be desired. The game needs to be patched to use the online features, but there's no guarantee that they'll work.
