Re: How Would You Rate NBA 2K12 So Far?

8-8.5 out of 10.

Some adjustments to shot sliders makes the 3PT shooting better. The problem is the CPU doesn't know you've adjusted the shot sliders, and still takes as many 3 pointers. This makes beating them a lot easier.

Lower the 3-point tendency slider?

-8-

- trade logic
- defensive match-ups on the fly
- rotation
- low minutes in association (simulation)
- 3pt

Of course, certain game play can be tweaked with sliders. I will wait for that and the patch.

8.5 If they give me a Nfl head coach type association mode then I'd rank this best sports game ever.

"Lower the 3-point tendency slider?"

Right, but then you're changing the strategy for 3 Pt teams like the Spurs who take and make a lot of shots. That puts a 3PT heavy team at a disadvantage.

I just played the Spurs on Pro with 3 Pt tendency at 45 and 3pt shot success at 40 for the CPU. They still lit me up. Any open 3 was getting knocked down. Even Parker hit one like it was no thang.

Coach/Team Profile to change attempts on 3-pointers?

Every team is 3PT heavy, though. That's what people are complaining about. They toss them up if you give them a second to breathe and they just knock them down with unrealistic regularity.

I lowered the tendency to 49, increased post/attack/mid to 51. This way they are still aggressive but have discipline at the perimeter.

So after playing it for a couple weeks, I'm more inclined to give it a 5 or 6. Half the modes don't work, the AI isn't good (everything they do is either brilliant or retarded - no middle ground), the and a bit of an EA was pulled with some minor features being inexplicably removed.

Is it even possible to make a sports game in this day and age without it at least kind of sucking? 2K10 upon release was a disaster to put it kindly (and even then it wasn't any good outside of My Player - deciding to make an arcade basketball game with 2K's controls and animations didn't work out) and even 2K11 wasn't association ready for like a month. Basketball's the only sport I really care about, but I have heard bad things about EA's other franchises, and MLB 2K seems to be a perennial embarrassment kept afloat by a lack of competition.

imo tho

8/10

-1 for poor trade logic and another -1 for MyPlayer slider. Thank goodness we have people who worked hard to find the addresses so we can change it w/ TSearch/CheatEngine. :D

Tough call. I'd rate the gameplay 8.5-9/10 as it plays a pretty solid game of basketball and the controls are pretty smooth and responsiveness. There is still room for improvement in the AI though and while there are less out of control moments, I'm still not exactly enamoured with Isomotion. There's also a few issues with balance between user and CPU abilities but on the whole, gameplay is pretty good. I wouldn't say perfect though, so no perfect score there.

Association's depth remains fantastic, but the mode is a little buggy and should've received more of a tune-up. There's a reason 2K were quiet about and dodged any questions about offline Association. I could probably give it 9.5, even 10 out of 10 for depth but with its execution it's probably closer to 7.5 or 8. It's disappointing that some of those issues remain.

NBA's Greatest is also close to being a 10 out of 10 for its presentation and general concept, but the bug that marks completed games as uncompleted (even though it still correctly says you've won X/15 games) after exiting other game modes is inexcusable and pretty much defeats the purpose of the mode unless you disable autosave...which is an easy enough fix but then it limits a convenience. I'd probably take at least a point off for that, but otherwise I think the mode is good enough to warrant a 9/10.

I still haven't been able to get online on PC, even after waiting for about 15 minutes. Sounds like it's better on the consoles and of course they've just received a patch for it, but once again online has been a mess. 0/10.

My Player is solid for the most part with some quirks, I've had one crash so far and seeing some of the other posts, I'm waiting for some of the other bugs and logic issues to rear their ugly heads. So far though it's gone pretty well aside from the crash, I'd say about an 8/10. Creating a Legend might be the more fun mode, I'd also give that at least an 8.

Overall, I'd say 7.5/10 so far (I'm willing to overlook the online score personally because I'm not a big online player, but it's still a poor effort on their part). If some of these issues are patched I think it's capable of being solid 8-9 out of 10 and even now it's a very good basketball game, but the deeper you delve into the game the more issues you notice that shouldn't be there and in some cases, should have been stamped out after last year.
