My game won't start up :(

I am currently having some problems with starting my NBA 2k12 for PC. I have bought the game from the steam store and this starting happening since I tried to get on last night. I tried rebooting, I have re-installed the game earlier this afternoon. When I click on the shortcut, it says 'preparing to launch NBA 2k12...' Then nothing else happens. Any ideas?

Try checking if your pc meets the system requirements for 2k12.

Also, left click on the short cut, click properties, go to compatibility tab, then tick these:

Run as Admin
Disable visual themes
Disable visual composition
(it works and makes my game to run smoother)


Do that if you think you meet the pc system requirement, because if you don't have the right system that will not help either.

- or if you played this game on your pc and worked fine before, then there must be something wrong to your nba online data update. Try uninstall, make sure the 2k12 folder in the program files are clear, run ccleaner or whatever registry cleaner your using. Install the game. Make sure to back up your save folder.

Verify the integrity of the game cache through steam.

Does the "Preparing.." message go away or does it stay? If it stays, that means your Steam client cannot verify with the Steam server, so the issue may not be related to the game. If it does stay, get Steam to offline mode (Select Go Offline from the menu) and try to start the game and see if it works that way.
