how do I get a halftime show with no xbox harddrive?

Thu Oct 13, 2011 11:24 am

I got the ring of death with my old xbox 360 so I went out and I got the 4 gig xbox 360 elite. There is over 2 gigs free right now...yet 2k doesnt let us view the halftime and player of the game shows. My game feels muted without it...can anyone help? I tried renaming the "memory unit" to "hard drive"...lol..unsuprisingly no luck.

sorry man, I don't know of any workarounds other than buying one of the actual harddrives.

You don't have your old hard drive still?

I do but it's the old plug in hard drive from the original xbox 360. I took it apart and tried plugging it into my new xbox but I got the stupid error screen. I use my ps3 for watching movies so getting a HDD for the xbox just feels like a waste of money.

Got any sd cards with usb adapters or a usb flash drive? I can't confirm whether they will give you half time shows, but if you have one, its worth a shot. It will have to be formatted in the 360, so you will need to move the data off of it.

are you guys talking about the HP Halftime report? or is it a different halftime show?

yea, when you dont have a "real" harddrive in the 360, it doesn't use any video highlights.

The game regularly uses up several GB of cache on the PC. I can only assume that it uses a similar amount on the 360.

There has to be a way around it because I put demos on a usb thumbdrive and it would tell me it isn't fast enough to play games, but didn't say you couldn't do it, just that you would see performance issues. Maybe a USB hard drive would allow him to see the half time show.

The issue seems to be only with ripping the game to the hard drive/thumbdrive. Get yourself a 16gb(maximum supported external drive by the 360) USB thumbdrive and see what happens. Actually, if you don't have one, I think I can test this for you if I can find my thumbdrive.

that would be cool if you can test it Pdub..that way i'd know if it's worth it to buy a thumbdrive. thats way more useful than a 360 harddrive.

Fail. My usb thumb drive did not meet performance expectations, but my mini sd card through a usb adapter did. I tried it, but no replays and a tiny halftime show, no game track, no spark of the game, either.

There is another solution. I read about a hack that will convert a certain model hard drive so it is usable with the 360. It costs less, but requires some unscrewing and hard drive bios flashing and things on a computer. If you want to save money, http://digiex.net/guides-reviews/consol ... -slim.html

No idea. When I used a fast sdcard that passed the xbox speed test for playing games on it, I didn't get any replays. I would assume a hard drive would be even faster.
