Talk about NBA 2K12 here.

The insight can be found
hereAs you can see, it was a very busy year for us on the offensive end of the floor this dev cycle… and I haven’t even touched on all the upgrades. I’m excited to read/hear the feedback from the community as we continue to push the envelope and blur the lines between real life hoops and video games. Now I gotta get back to work on NBA2K13.
2k13?

The next big undertaking was the Change Shot code. Frankly, this feature was a mess and hadn’t been touched for several years. This year, the code was completely re-written and I’m proud to say that it’s a feature that’s finally worth talking about. You can now change your shot from any layup or dunk without it looking robotic, and the variation in shot finishes is at least 30 times more than it was last year. Now when you switch hands in mid-air or change from a dunk to a layup, it’s difficult to tell if it’s raw mocap or two animations blending together.
Feeling...weak...game...too...good...

Sounds like this game will be freaking complex. But that's just what I like. The more it resembles whatever you can do on the court IRL, the better it is, even if it takes me ages to master the controls.
The last time I effectively altered a shot in mid-air must have been in NBA live. That's something, I did not even know we could still do it in 2k11 and it definitely already sucked in 2k10.
From what they did with this game, I am really looking forward to finally playing with Dirk in a real life like fashion. More realistic releases due to the knew signature shot options and new post offense will make it fun to play with my fav player.
I'm also looking forward to destroy some guys with pure strengths (aggressive backdown) in the paint. Shaq 2002 comes to my mind.

more difficult to master=more pleasure in the end.

Good news, glad to see Mike touch upon defense in the Insight as well.
The change to free throw shooting is something that caught my eye. It sounds good and the expanded shot grade meter should help out, though I still wish there were more on-screen cues. I guess when it comes down to it, the old T-Meter method in the old NBA Lives remains my favourite way of shooting free throws, I miss having that precision. In any case, good move tweaking the window for success for poor free throw shooters. Hopefully, the CPU is similarly handicapped when they're in control of players who are shaky at the free throw line.
Still, another promising Insight there. I still expect I'll be spending a bit of time in training camp to get everything down pat.

Jason Terry won't be my first option on offense anymore.

Hm. What I do is usually call a play for Dirk for a open midrange shot or do a post up isolation with him and surround the perimeter with shooters. It works pretty good. I wouldnt see why I would need to go to someone like Terry throughout a game as first option if you just Post Nowitzki up everytime and run some picks for him

His descriptions of the AI using all the shot weapons, and of the realistic shot %'s sound good.

Agreed. Hopefully it will be balanced and both sides can effectively utilise their defensive tools, though superstars should still be difficult to contain whether they're AI or user controlled.

My problem is his jumpshot. I want to play the Dirk that shoots over people.

I dont know how I missed this, but I would have had a lot different initial impressions of the demo if I had read this first.
