CF Texture 5 ( Alpha 1 Layer )

Hello to all, I needed some help I'm at the last stages of finishing my Cyber Face and I'm just having one problem, I need to know how to create a Alpha 1 using my image. How do I turn the image to Black and White? If anyone would be willing to lend some knowledge using Gimp or Photoshop it doesn't matter I just need to know how to get that custom Alpha 1
