CTD under varying circumstances after REDitor modding

Postby vaporman87 on Fri Apr 13, 2012 4:17 am

I have been using REDitor II to replace existing NBA teams with Created Teams (including created players and some regular NBA players). Everything was working smooth as silk until I replaced my 9th NBA team with a Created Team. Now I get several CTD experiences. It CTDs under the following conditions:

- When starting a game : Following the 2K Sports introduction (when it transistions to the opening scene/player intros), but only if the newly replaced (9th) team is one of the teams playing.
- When I attempt to alter the name of any new created players I attempt to make in the in-game Create-A-Player area. Thinking this may have been related to the number created players or their player type, I deleted all created players. After doing that, I am able to create (and alter the names of) two additional players, but a third created player (whom I try to alter the name of) causes a CTD.

More info: I had changed the team types of all created teams that replaced NBA teams to 0 - Regular NBA Teams. In an attempt to discover the issue, I changed the team types back to CAT. This did not seem to make any difference.

first one, change the teams' GID back to the NBA ones, since the NBA Today feature requires those GIDs to be in a roster or else it will crash.

second one, not only change the created players to normal players, but also move them in the roster file up or down over classic, developer, current, FA, or D-League players. The game tries to use the same slots for created players, hence the crash.
Opinions are my own.

Here is the process I use for replacing each NBA team with a Created Team:

1. - I create the players in the in-game player creation section.
2. - I create the team in the in-game team creation section (and add the created players along with 3 or 4 NBA players to the team).
3. - I use REDitor II to copy the newly Created Team data (under the "teams" tab) and paste it over an existing NBA Team's data.
4. - I change the newly copied Created Team's GID to the GID that the former NBA Team holding that slot was using.
5. - I change the newly copied Created Team's Team Type to 0 - Regular NBA Team.
6. - I change the newly copied Created Team's Division to the Division that the former NBA Team had listed.
7. - I alter the Created Team's arena data (arena name, town, state, city abbreviation) under the "arenas" tab (not the former NBA Team's arena data, the ORIGINAL Created Team's arena data.
8. - I alter an existing NBA Team staff member's data (team graphic ID - to match the GID of the newly copied Created Team, the coaches ratings, etc.)
9. - I change the head coach of the newly copied Created Team to this newly altered NBA Team staff member under the "teams/staff" tab.
10. - I copy the jersey data of the newly copied Created Team and paste it over the former NBA team jersey holding that slot under the "jerseys" tab.
11. - I change the GID of the newly copied Created Team jerseys to the fomer NBA Team's GID.
12. - I change the GID of all extra jerseys used by the former NBA Team (retro, secondary, etc.) to the GID used by the ORIGINAL Created Team.
13. - I save the .ROS file and close REDitor II.

This process served me well up until this 9th Created Team replaced it's corresponding NBA Team slot.

I did take your advice regarding the GID changes and utilized them. However, I have not utilized this second bit of advice regarding the conversion of created players to normal players and moving them up in the file. Would I do this for both CAT players AND CAP players (both versions of the created players) and how might I go about the moving of them?
