i just recently discovered that there is a 'hidden' player detail level that can be set through the 2k12 config file. inside the config, i changed player detail from '0' (which is high in-game) to 4. i also changed the stadium detail level to low. 2k screwed this setting up - high is low and low is high.
anyway, my point is that with the alteration of player lod from zero to four, the increase in detail is very noticeable. after i did this, i forced global LOD adjustment through ati tray tools (would be a diff app for nvidia owners) from 0 (default) to -3.
i must say, the level of detail on players is now insane. minus the shading/shaders/lighting or w/e it's called, the players now look more detailed on the pc more than ever on xbox. you guys should give this a shot. in addition to any graphical mods you may be using, these changes can make your game look really, really good.
so yeah, player lod should be set to 4 in the config (lord knows why because a setting of zero equals high quality, 1 equals medium and 2 equals low - i haven't tried using a setting of three), stadium lod set to '0', lock your config file to read only and also force global lod to your liking - i prefer -1.5 or -3. before sure to use negative values and not positive.
i know most of this is old news, but with the addition of global lod adjustment player models just look sick.
good luck!
by the way, does anyone know what these config values change in-game?
