Game crashes with replacement team

Postby vaporman87 on Fri Mar 30, 2012 4:02 am

Using REDitor II (with the NBA2k12 Tables "Guru" & "MyFriend" Interface) I tested the replacement of an NBA team with all the attributes/cells of an in game created Custom Team. Essentially, I replaced the 76er's with my custom teams data. I left the Team ID, Team Type, & Division the same. I then deleted the created custom team from it's "custom team" slot. This new roster is saved separately from the original roster file. Now when I load this newly created 76er's-less roster, the game crashes when I go to "Home". What did I do wrong?

NBA Today is trying to load all the NBA team GID's and you changed one.

so in that roster, swap your team's GID in the teams and uniform (possibly other tabs, staff?) with 0 to swap it back to the 76ers graphics ID.
Opinions are my own.

I did as you said and things went smoothly. So, I started to working on another team. However, something BAD has happened. My save with the modded roster suddenly went back to default. I lost everything I worked on. Do all of the recent 2K games have this ignorant NBA Today/connection feature that overrides the files on your PC?

is it still overridden when you load it up again? that didnt happen pre-patch, I was hoping it was something they fixed after the issues with it in 2k10 and 2k11.

you can goto the options and turn off NBA Today to fix that....I think

There are some special circumstances I probably should mention too, though I don't know what impact they would have on the issue of losing my roster. After saving work on the roster for a second day and closing the game, I loaded it back up and was presented with the information that my user profile had not been confirmed, and that I had to re-create one. It was after this re-creation of my user profile that the data loss occurred. Even so, my "My Player" and test "Association" data was still present. It's all very confusing. My next approach (aside from checking for the option to NOT connect to NBA Today) is to 1. - Download the "Keep My Mod" utility and 2. - Keep a separate save of my roster in a location outside of the game appdata folder so that I can replace it if necessary.
