The site was released June 19, 2011 and was recently closed due to upgrade to the entire site. It seems that with the introduction of NBA2k12, the time was fitting to unveil a new era for our site. I'd like to stress, we don't want to replace NLSC but rather create an alternative home for the fans of the NBA2k Series.
Here's a partial list of all the upgrades to the site:
FaceBook and Twitter Integration
- Ability to share links as well as update both your Facebook & Twitter status right from our site.
- Profile Synching - Users who link their 2kMods account with a social media network can auto-sync statuses & profile photos
- Ability to login using your FB and Twitter account (This gets your name, email & photo to use on our site, you can change your name at any time via the "My Settings" page.
Advanced Forum System
- Our text editor makes it easy to compose posts with rich formatting. It even saves drafts and notifies you of topic updates while you're typing.
- Over 200 New Emoticons added, Meme's too!
- Follow your favorite thread and get notified of any updates.
- Reputation system allows users to give positive or negative rep to a user as a "Thank you" or a "STFU you're really annoying" + if many people give somebody a negative rep, a temporary ban is placed on a account.
Think twice before you troll.
- PM Groups - When you need to have a private conversation between you and four other users. Use our PM system and invite them into a conversation.
- Video Embedding - Links to videos on popular video sites are automatically turned into an embedded video player right in the topic, no more need for special codes.
- My Media Center - Allowing easy reuse of previously-posted content, like photos. Your own little space in NBA2kMods.com
Custom User Profiles
- Ability to change the background on your profile page.
- Every user profiles list everything the user has done on our site. From what files they uploaded to what blogs they have written.
- Friend System allows you to add another member as a friend and keep up with what they're doing (if the member allows it).
Download Center
- Members can comment on files, add them to a favorite list, email links to others, rate the files, and track them to get updates when they change.
- The most organized download center on the web, search by highest rated, most downloaded, author, category, most followed, etc...
- Integrated with the Forum, see the latest files added from the forum on your toolbar.
- Easy to upload files, all files uploaded need a mods approval. This way we can reduce patch stealing.
- Archive System - When new version of a file is updated, the old versions are shown as an archive allowing members to access old versions for reference.
- Statistics - See how many times it has been viewed and downloaded.

A new logo was created by one of our staff members to celebrate the release of the new website. Our old logo will still be used in the customizable team banners on our site. Expect to see this design on the main page as well as on T-Shirts and other ideas for the future. The public release is scheduled for this thursday, hope you guys enjoy what we did to the place.

2kMods has been getting a much needed redesign and in the time that I was redesigning I also noted that I was missing a key component. A good community turns into a great community with the help of a great staff. Some of you may have seen this by the work of Andrew and Jao who work tirelessly to maintain order and answer questions throughout the forum. There are also some great mods are active in other parts of the site besides the NBA2k area since this was originally a NBA-Live forum. So with this, I was looking for members who will not only do their job and make sure the forum is a place with no fights, stealing or immature arguments but also will do their part in helping out members who may have questions, contribute to the community and just make the site a better experience for people going there. These mods are truly skilled in what they do and all have been asked to and agreed to do their part in contributing to the community. The mods will also release their works on our site, including SYXXness and his exclusive shoes. The 1992 & 1997 Mod will also return to 2k12 and like the past game, will be available on NBA2kMods.com
On top of the staff, we also have added full Facebook and Twitter integration which allows you to sign in using your FaceBook or Twitter account. You will still have a custom username to use on the boards as well as having the option to "hide" your FB account from public view. Hope to see you there when it's released

Some of you may know that NLSC is not the only place for mods of the NBA 2k series. Another young site is NBA2kMods.com and with the help of our download servers, we were able to host files with blazing fast speeds ranging from the detailed CF's of MGX to the TCM of StompTheCourt of the 1997 season mod as well as the 1992 Mod of Aloncho.
The website debuted on June 19, 2011 and although it was a successful launch gathering many registrations, I was the only one working on the site and I emphasized the speed of the downloads and the availability of our servers rather than presentation. After I done the most I could under-the-hood, I began working on the presentation aspect of it. As of now, if you visit NBA2kMods or 2kMods, you will see just a place holder HTML page.
We are in the midst of redesigning the site, and by we I mean the new staff and I. We are working on not only creating a visually stunning site equipped with features to ease navigation, but rather create a community where people can go and learn, download their favorite patches and contribute to the community of patchers.
Our goal is NOT to replace NLSC nor to compete with them but rather create an alternative home for the fans of the 2K series.
