USA Today Preview: Any NBA Player for Creating a Legend

Postby JaoSming on Fri Sep 09, 2011 8:24 am

After signing my new contract, I check out some of the other interesting components to My Player. Each created player gets a "paycheck" every two weeks, and that money goes toward improving skills, developing chemistry with teammates and more. For example, I could choose to attend a Youth Camp with a NBA Legend, or join the rest of my teammates for a bowling night.

During the season, players can compete in an extensive series of drills to bolster their abilities and fast track them to star status. This same structure applies to Creating a Legend mode, which is the same as My Player, only you can control any current NBA player. So, if you're a Blake Griffin fan, you can help guide him toward a Hall of Fame future.

First, if they GTA this stuff (or pull a NFL 2K5) and let us actually bowl, :applaud: .

And I'm glad they recognized the popularity of playing My Player with current NBA players. I got two going on right now with Antoine Walker and Kyrie Irving.
Opinions are my own.

Great move in terms of Creating a Legend. The concept of "What if Legend X came into the league today?" is a fun one but being able to basically run My Player with any current player is a great feature and one a lot of people wanted to see, probably moreso than the What-If concept.

The next logical step for that would of course be the um...'female fans appreciation nights' minigame

Exactly the same for me, I have 2 going on right now as well: Larry Bird coming out of retirement to help the Celtics out, and KB24 erasing that manure pile of a last season for the Lakers.

Gary Payton and or Kemp would be fun to bring back, I'll definitely be doing one of those two if not both.

I think it's not possible if we're doing it in 2K style

This same structure applies to Creating a Legend mode, which is the same as My Player, only you can control any CURRENT NBA player.

...but it may be possible if we're doing it in NLSC style, yeah!! NLSC rocks :headbang:

Will they include GTA San Andreas' "Hot Coffee"? :cheeky:

the Creating a Legend mode is based off of using the Legends in that My Player what if? setting. If we know you can use legends, and current players, I'm pretty sure we can just use whoever we want.

Yeah, I assumed you'd be able to use any player on the roster by the way they are talking anyway using any NBA Player.

yeah, I'm very hoping that I can use Bird in this mode, but the preview said "any current NBA player", let's see it in the next three weeks..

again......the mode is originally supposed to only have the Legends you unlock, so Bird would have been a part of that anyway. But since they are opening it to all current NBA players, I don't see them excluding any of the historic team's players either.
Opinions are my own.

Proof that Gaming companies actually look at our mods. I think they don't like us modding because last year they removed all of the street courts....lol (N)

Yeah, I was extra bummed about that, since NBA 2k11 was my first PC NBA 2k game ever. I saw some of the screenies of those old street and hidden courts and I kicked myself for fooling around with 2k10 on the XBox 360 :wall:

if you can use any player... does that mean you continue any player's CURRENT career or do you have to option to START OVER? meaning if i want Garnett or Duncan for my CREATING A LEGEND/MY PLAYER do i play them as they are now and retire in a couple years? or are we talking about a rookie version of existing players to draft onto any team? hopefully Yao, Iverson and other noteables are still in the FA pool and usable...
