Miami Boosts Team With Lopez Addition
JANUARY 12, MIAMI – The Miami Heat (19-18) have been starting a rookie at the centre spot all season and needed to make a change. “Tracy (Kennedy) did a terrific job. It’s never hard for a big man to start in his rookie year with all that physicality in the post,” Pat Riley said, “We’re happy that the young fella can go back to the bench and continue to develop.”
Kennedy has average close to 3 points and 3 rebounds and although the production could be considered ‘measly’, his team mates praised him for his effort. “What Ted did was give us a presence out there,” Dwyane Wade stated, “We all know that he contributes more than his statistics say.” With that said, the Heat are surely ready to welcome their newest addition from the Phoenix Suns (18-21): C/F Robin Lopez.
“Robin is an experienced 7 footer who is smart and hungry to play,” Riley explained of his prized trade acquisition, “I won’t lie about the fact that I’ve been working very hard to get him here. I’m very happy that Chuck (Suns’ GM Charles Barkley) finally decided to get a deal done.”
Lopez who is a 7 foot, 255 pound, 15th pick of the 2008 Draft out of Stanford is just as excited to join his new team. Lopez has not played much in Phoenix as the 25 year old has averaged just 1.3 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10 minutes per game this season. He hopes to lift that production in Miami. “I’ve been told that I will be starting. I am excited about that. At the same time, I know that I need to play very well to prove that I am a worthy starter,” he said.
“I can’t wait to join this team as I believe that we can compete for a championship,” he also added.
Riley admitted that his hand was forced after Eastern Conference foes Cleveland and Nets have both added more bulk to their frontcourts. The Heat had found it hard to attract free agents and was desperate to add another big man. Luckily for him, Lopez wanted out of Phoenix and the Suns wanted the same.
The Heat traded C Chris Mihm’s expiring contract along with salary fillers PF Lenny Quinn, PG John Justice and a future first round draft pick to the Suns. Quinn has never played in an NBA game after being selected with the number 18 pick of the 2013 Draft; spending his time in the D-League. Justice has also struggled to break the Heat’s guard rotation after being the 22 selection of the 2011 Draft.
Charles Barkley described the deal as 'spring cleaning', "Robin didn't want to be here anymore. We have a good core of players so I thought it was a very good trade for us. We got two young players and a draft pick. Does this make me GM of the Year?"
Phoenix also added 7’1” PF and 2013 second round draft pick Gooding Frankie to the trade in order to balance salaries. Frankie is expected to be waived by the Heat.

You voted Steamers.
Team was originally Steamers but I vetoed it after finding out what Cleveland Steamers were.
This is off top of my head, you could prob search ALIB II and find out if that's accurate.

This would be funnier if Rudy Gay himself was in the Stealth.

It better not be as Mavs had offered a better deal to the Suns
