SEATTLE (AP) – Andrew Bogut tied a career high 30 points to lead the Seattle Stealth back from a double digit deficit and record a much needed win against the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves. It wasn’t a one-man effort either as Bogut got support from Reshawn Tyson, who had 23 points, and 20 points apiece from Kevin Durant and David Lee. Bogut kept the Stealth in the game, Durant and Lee helped put them back in it with big third quarters, and Tyson sealed the win with some late-game heroics.
Rashad McCants top scored for the Wolves with 34 points while Manfred Nissley scored all of his 22 points in the first half. Al Jefferson finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds while Quinn Person, always a top performer against the Stealth, added 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Minnesota controlled the first half to a tee as the Wolves built a considerable lead to end it. A Tyson three point buzzer beater cut the first half lead to 12 points, with Minnesota up 57-45. Nissley’s 22 points and McCant’s 17 were big reasons for that as the two guards lit up the scoreboard. After a rousing talk from Stealth coach Will Sit, Seattle came out on a mission to take the game back into their own hands.
Seattle delivered a strong third quarter and it was on the back of a Trevor Ariza baseline trey that gave the Stealth their first lead of the game at 84-83 halfway through the period. The game remained close for its remainder as both teams took it down to the wire.
J.J. Hickson’s short jumper pulled the Wolves closer to the Stealth with 55 seconds left; Minnesota trailed 99-97. Seattle called time out and Bogut scored an easy bucket off a Jason Kidd assist with 48.2 seconds left in the game as the teams came out of the short break. Person’s layup kept the Wolves in the game at 101-99. Lee and Richard Jefferson traded baskets with half a minute left before Tyson came up with a big shot with 9.9 seconds left. Tyson’s pull up jumper made the score 105-101. He then intercepted an inbounds pass and was sent to the line for two free throws. Tyson hit both of them to give Seattle a 107-101 buffer with 5.2 seconds left. The SG then rebounded a McCants’ missed shot to close out the close win.
Notes: Embroiled in trade rumors, David Lee put in a season high 20 points effort. After the game he said, ‘I want to stay in Seattle. I want to prove that I can be an important member of this team’ … Seattle rookie Jao Wu was impressive in a 2 minute stint to start the fourth quarter. He scored a 3 pointer and forced three turnovers… Veteran PG Jason Kidd finished with 13 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks…

Now get yourself a 20 game winning streak or something, your squad is too talented to hover around the .500 mark

Tyson, Durant Prevent Clippers Upset

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Reshawn Tyson and Andrew Bogut carried the Seattle Stealth in the first half. David Lee joined the party in the third quarter. When Ray Lliach and the pesky LA Clippers just wouldn’t be put away, Kevin Durant finally showed up and helped Tyson halt the home team’s threat of an upset win.
On the eve of playing the LA Lakers on the same court, Tyson put on a show for the STAPLES Centre crowd. He finished with 42 points, 10 assists, 8 steals; including 28 points in the first half. When asked if this was a warm-up for the game against the Lakers, Tyson joked, “I’m letting Kobe (Bryant) know that I’m coming with my ‘A’ game tomorrow night.” The Clippers had their own star as Lliach hit 5 triples in the final period en route to 19 fourth quarter points. The third year PG finished with 36 points, which included 8 three point shots. “I had the hot hand in the last quarter,” Lliach observed, “But we couldn’t get the win and that really sucked.”
The Stealth seemed to pull away behind Tyson and Durant’s scoring outputs in the final quarter but a one minute span late in the game saw the Clippers sink 4 of their 7 fourth quarter three point shots and shrinking the deficit to just 3 points. Lliach had a chance to make it a single digit ball game but he threw up a terrible shot, after being hounded by Durant, in order to beat the shot clock. Tyson went to the line and made a free throw to seal the game with 0.9 seconds left.
“I had a bit of an off-night tonight,” Durant said after the game as he looked across at the media pack around Tyson, “Tyson did a good job to keep us in the game but this is still my team.” Durant had just 4 points in the first half but made up for it with his 12 fourth quarter points. He finished the game with 20.
Notes: Tyson’s 42 points and 10 assists were season highs and his total of 8 steals were a new career high… The Stealth were 1 for 11 from three point range; in comparison the Clippers were 14 for 28... Bogut scored 16 points in the first half... Former Stealth PF DJ White had a career high 7 assists for the Clippers... Stealth PF Luis Scola suffered a dislocated finger...

You burnt me in the first half but Ty kept you scoreless in the second.Brilliant defense by him. And brilliant pressing by him and Kidd to get us back into the game.
