Really nice. I for some reason think Chara's not going to be the first pick, just seems that way for some reason. :P Good job and I hope you pick someone nice. :)

Havent been around lately .. huge things going on. Payton made himself a name with his only year as a coach ... not a good name though ... maybe we will see him again on another team later?

I dont feel sry with Durant but since when is Westbrook such a dick? Total restart in Seattle? Or just one dick instead of two.

Good decision to get Karl, D'Antoni's offensive system doesnt win championships, and that's what we wanna see.

This Moses guy is a douchebag. Hope he doesnt end up on your team ^^ would cause serious trouble with the guys on your team.

Oh and New Orleans and CP3 did a heck of a job. Great writing, great updates, keep it up Sit, this is special once again ;) (Y)

The story so far...

George Karl To Return To Seattle

May 14, 2009

SEATTLE (AP) – It has been announced that former Seattle Sonics coach George Karl will return to coach the Stealth. ESPN.com first reported the story last week. In a statement released today, Karl’s spokesperson affirmed the coaching appointment.

“It is happily confirmed that George Karl, a coach of close to 900 wins, has agreed to terms with the Seattle Stealth. He is happy to return to Seattle where he had a successful stint in the 1990s…” the statement read.

Karl led the Seattle Sonics to three division titles and the 1996 NBA Finals, where the team fell to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Since then, Karl has close to 900 wins; a milestone he should easily achieve if his new team has a winning season. “I am very pleased to say that George Karl will now be coach of the Seattle Stealth,” General Manager Will Sit said in a press conference, “George had great success when he was last here and I am hoping that he can help our young team reach those lofty heights of yesteryear.”

Karl has enjoyed coaching stints with the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Denver Nuggets since he first became a head coach in 1984. He was controversially axed in the middle of the 2008-09 season by the Denver Nuggets. At the time, Karl had stated, “I am turning my back on the NBA because it is a load of (expletive).” However, it seems that the Stealth enticed the coach to come out of his impromptu-retirement.

Karl takes over the coaching reins from Gary Payton, the player he coached to the NBA Finals in 1996. Payton, who had a shaky debut season with the Seattle Stealth, was recently ruled unfit to resume coaching duties after an attempted suicide.

Sacramento Kings Win Top Pick

May 22, 2009

NEW YORK (AP) – The Sacramento Kings beat out five teams with better odds to win the first overall Draft pick in the upcoming NBA rookie draft. Sacramento, who finished with a 31-51 record for the 2008-09 NBA season, now has full control over who to choose in what is anticipated to be a very strong draft class.

“We are very pleased with winning the first pick,” Sacramento’s team representative stated, “I am not allowed to discuss whom we are looking to pick but we have two names clear in our minds.” Many pundits are predicting that the Kings will now select Duke’s Moses Chara with the first overall pick. The only other player in discussion would be Northwestern’s Donnell Lawrence who is viewed as the only compatriot on Chara’s level in regard to talent and NBA-readiness.

The Utah Jazz were also big winners on the day as they racked the second overall pick despite having the ninth best odds to win the top pick. The Memphis Grizzlies and Chicago Bulls had the best odds to win the first pick but slid to fifth and sixth respectively.

The NBA Draft order for the lottery is as follows:

1. Sacramento Kings
2. Utah Jazz
3. Charlotte Bobcats
4. New York Knicks
5. Memphis Grizzlies
6. Chicago Bulls
7. Milwaukee Bucks
8. New Jersey Nets
9. Seattle Stealth
10. Denver Nuggets
11. Toronto Raptors
12. Phoenix Suns
13. Philadelphia 76ers
14. Dallas Mavericks

Chara: I Will Be Picked First

May 25, 2009

UTAH (AP) – Just days after it was announced that the Sacramento Kings would select first in the 2009 NBA Draft, Duke’s Moses Chara boldly predicted that he would be the player the Kings uses their pick on. At a workout with the Utah Jazz, holders of the second overall pick, Chara took time out to make clear his views of how the Draft would go down.

“I’m the best player in the mix right now,” Chara boasts, “I’ve just led Duke to the national title and I’ve played great my whole college career. Sacramento needs a player who can step right in and help Kevin Martin. I’m the player who can do that.”

Chara has drawn comparisons to Larry Bird, for his shooting stroke and all-around game, and LeBron James, for his anticipated ability to step right into the pro game. “I am privileged to be compared to Bird and James. They are special players,” Chara acknowledges, “But there is a reason why I get compared to them and it’s because I can play.”

When questioned on why he was trialling with Utah, Chara responded, “I have to keep my options open and if Sacramento passes up on me, Utah will definitely have to pick me. With Carlos Boozer who might leave this team, they need someone who can score.”

Nice little round up dude (Y) Im unsure what I think about Chara, he's arrogant but kinda in a realistic way, like its not unfounded. I think he would fit well with Sacramento really.

We will get someone decent with the 9th pick. (Y) I'm desperately needing a SG and if X and Mark are available I will need to pick one or the other... I'm thinking X cause he will contribute straight away... or Mark because he can develop into something big one day... dunno... what do you think?

That was the plan wasn't it. :P

As for Draft, Chara should know better than to act like that, but I admire his confidence as I know most rookies would be rather nervous and subtled. I guess he does really believe he can make a big impact in the NBA. Good attitude... in some ways.

Well, I don't know if he gets better or worse from here on in... only time will tell. :D

The X and homicide are both projected Top 5 picks... so it is a possibility...

I know you like Drafts and Free Agency... so I can definitely tell you that you're in for a good ride Draft-wise... :)

I was acutally thinking this today... perhaps I should ditch law and write a novel or something... after reading more fiction though and widen my vocab... lol

i sure did! Peyton saw that he had no hope because he was going to be charged in the restaurant debacle. That in and of itself would have ruined his career. so he tries to commit suicide. that fails and now he has the chance of having a great comeback story.

oh and i also expect durant to try to murder westbrook. he will fail but will lose his freedom.

you'll need someone immediately, cant afford to wait for developments (look at the Grizzlies...), so i'd recommend picking someone that''ll do some damage right away (Y)

Sit Needs To Decide
Will The Stealth Build To Win Now Or In The Future

May 30, 2009

Image
By Woody Hannes
ESPN.com Junior Writer

The Seattle Stealth has a lottery pick and they also have plenty of money to throw at one superstar or a handful of solid players during the upcoming offseason. It remains to be seen what direction the team will take; one that will make them winners now or one that will make them winners in the future.

Of the players who could help out immediately, the Stealth are reportedly interested in Andrew Watson. The former West Virginia star is 27 but he has played like a seasoned veteran in pre-draft workouts. Watson would fill a big void at the shooting guard position for Seattle. On the other hand, the team is also said to be interested in Arizona’s Mark Moore. Moore is younger, at the age of 22, but he does have several flaws in his game. Right now, he is a raw product who relies on his athleticism and endurance to outlast opponents on the court and unfortunately, that won’t cut it in the NBA.

The Stealth hasn’t called many prospects in to try out so it is assumed that the team is only interested in drafting either Watson or Moore. This isn’t a bad move as the team is very thin at shooting guard, Adam Morrison is the only one left on the roster. That’s not to say guys like Durant or Green can’t play there but those two would be better off focusing their time at small forward.

In regard to free agency, the team is said to be very interested in either Steve Nash or Carlos Boozer. Sit realizes that if he goes for either player, he can only get one of them before he is out of money to work with.

There are also plenty of young unproven players on the market this offseason. Seattle have been said to be interested in the likes of Martell Webster, Raymond Felton, Andrea Bargnani, Marvin Williams, Charlie Villanueva, Ben Gordon, and Devin Harris. If Seattle went for players of this caliber, they could come away with two or three of them.

After a disappointing end to last season, Seattle is looking to make its direction clear to its players and fans. The recent signing of George Karl as head coach signifies that Sit is meaning business. Either way, the team will want to win within the next three years. It’s a matter of whether it happens right now with the team signing older and more experienced players or if it happens later on down the track, with the team signing younger players who could develop.

Another scenario is Seattle staying put and saving cap space to make a run at Lebron James in the 2010 offseason. Such action is not expected from Seattle though.

The question of where this team is headed or planning to head should be answered on draft night. If they take Watson, chances are that Seattle will try to build a team capable of winning now. If they take Moore, it will be the opposite, gearing up for the future.

shite, that looks a lot like Mark  better than any of the cyberfaces he did for himself (sorry Mark, but I'm sure you would concede)....

I see I have a big forehead....can't argue with that

the real question is, who wears #6 for NZ....any bet its Kirk Penney or something & neither of us get to wear it

anyways, great off-season coverage....you're lifting the bar here....I liked brief playoff picture....that's all that was needed....

Haha yeah Drew I agree with you, better than any cyberfaces ive had so far, although I didn't make any of them. I think Penney would be dominating the #6, I think I would switch to my Hockey number, 11.

Cant wait to see who you draft Will, although surely you aint gonna let a draft pick determine whether you go for the win now or in the future....
